does anybody have a handy chart for converting carat weight into size for round diamonds

searching for some smaller diamonds now, can somebody explain what is meant by 10 pointers/8 pointers etc and how do these weights correspond with their size

Hi Brendan,

A carat is comprised of 100 points. So a 10 pointer refers to a tenth of a carat diamond (written as .10 ct).

It depends on girdle thickness, but usually:

0.10 ct = 2.9 mm
0.08 ct = 2.7 mm
