I can see how I come across that way to some people.
That's fine.

It's not so much that I have my fingers in my ears.
It's that I often see no point in responding.

I certainly do not view "discussions" in the same way that most people do, as if they were college debates with teams, competitors, winners and losers and views that prevail and conquer inferior views because they were better-argued or more logically rationalized, or better supported with data.
I'm not a competitive thinker.
I'm at peace with being wrong or others being wrong - no biggie.
I'm a skeptic who is suspicious when people argue that one universal truth that applies to everyone, unless they are discussing what 2+2 equals.

I try to just let anyone think whatever they want to think, and chalk it up to people varying.
I'm not a sculptor and you are not my clay.
It's actually very liberating.
Of course it becomes a paradox when I point out intolerance.

When I see conversations taking this format or turning into another round of Kenny bashing I just walk away and let everyone say and think whatever they want about me.
Correcting people just pours gas on the fire, so why bother?
Whatever you resist, persists.

I heard a great saying once, "What others think of me is none of my business."

I understand that this perspective infuriates many people who are wired for living under the mantra that there is ONE WAY-THE RIGHT WAY!
This perspective is very curious and interesting to me.
