What? Who said that?

Nope, I don't use it. I just skip posts from people I don't gel with, or read them if I'm feeling argumentative  I can't say there are many people on PS whose posts I'd skip routinely - different opinions are good to hear (if only to confirm I was right all along hehe).

Speaking of which, is there any form of private messaging available on here?
no,used to but not anymore.

Why'd they get rid of it?

Also, I really wish there was an easier way to see if threads you were commenting on have been updated. It's like all weird views or reading timestamps...they should just have a different background color for the rows that have new comments since you've last read them. Otherwise I'm trying to rememebr who the last person who commented on it was and what time they commented, or just refreshing the weird dashboard thing
I've requested an option to see all threads you've posted on with new posts, but to no avail. Maybe I'll go suggest it again!

However, threads with new posts have a little red and black box to the left of the title, and if you've posted on that thread there is a star in the blue box on the far left.

And I don't use either the friend or foe function. To be honest, I read for the people who annoy me just as much as I read for the people I like!

Professionally, I am a usability specialist and recently did a large project involving forums and I would love to write the PS people a large essay on suggestions about how they could improve the forums....but I'm not quite sure how much they would appreciate that ;D

I have used the foe function in the past to block posts from a poster that I found particularly annoying. But then I found myself viewing their posts anyway (you can unblock on a post-by-post basis) so I just unblocked them. Now I'm no longer bothered by those posts. But now that you bring it up, there is...

BTW as far as I know, my choice to use the foe function is strictly between me and PS. Nobody knows if I've blocked a particular poster unless I choose to reveal that fact. Which I'd never do... I mean, it isn't like I'm in Jr. High or something! :wink2:

We welcome suggestions on how to make the forum better and seriously consider each one that is brought to our attention. If it is feasible, inexpensive for us to implement, and we believe will make the forum a better place, we would be glad to use it. :))

Please use the "Contact Us" button at the bottom of the page to send us suggestions or use the "Suggestion Box" part of the forum.

I have used it, though I don't think those people post on here anymore.

On another forum.. oh good grief... there was one woman who was just so mean to everyone, trash talking, starting stuff... I just ignored her and she went away too. Generally I don't really care about people enough to block them.

I do not use it. Like someone else said, this forum is moderated, so it is a pretty pleasant experience here. There are a few posters who I wonder how they survive in the real world judging by how anxious they seem to be over their diamonds, so if I feel they are going off the deep end, I just skip their posts.

I enjoy yours posts, Karl, and I wish the experts would post more. There used to be some great educational threads that were very informative and enjoyable to read.

I don't use the function here on PS.

I joined BabyCenter and posted there a couple times earlier in my pregnancy. Then I stopped posting there when I realized that I wanted to use the ignore function for 85% of the posters over there. :cheeky: That's my only other experience forum experience, so I'll be sticking to PS moving forward. Better to post with people I'm not interested in ignoring.

I think a couple people have me on ignore. Fine with me!

Yes, I have one poster on "ignore," but find myself clicking on their posts many times anyway to provide myself with context during certain threads!

I don't see why it is "high school" to use the setting. I just found myself weary of this particular poster's incessant posts and topics and no one knows I have them on "ignore" so what's the harm?

On this forum, I've never felt the need to use that function.

While I was a member of another "Bulletin Board" type of forum, I encountered a poster who would purposely post to incite an argument. And once she lit the fuse, would keep adding fuel to the fire until it was a raging inferno. That forum was part of a famous author's website, and had been created for her fans to get to know each other and become "family". I decided to use the IGNORE function, and I posted as if she did not exist and had never thrown her two cents into the discussion. Had all of the members done just that, that forum would still be alive and well. The author finally pulled the plug, after giving us all a fine lecture on our manners. It was humiliating, as well it should have been.

There's only one problem with that: who will determine which posters are adults? :cheeky:

I don't see any problem. I use to have 1 person on ignore but I think they are long gone now. to me out of sight out of mind! Way better than arguing with someone!

I agree, Skippy. I haven't used the ignore button, because no one has annoyed me that much, but it would probably be more grown up than having a squabble.

Unless you wanna make something of it?
