Last week I went down to WF to see a few stones, mainly a F-VS2 1.63 I had brought in. I was in Brian's office (although he was not there at the time). The lighting was typical fluorescent lighting, there was a large window where I could move the diamonds and see them under shade and sunlight. I viewed them almost exclusively on a tray.
Although while I was there I didn't see any inclusions on any of the diamonds, looking at this photo I'm afraid I will be able to see that big crystal on the table under some lighting conditions. I don't care if there are inclusions, but i do care if anyone can ever see them.
The next day they sent me a photo of the F-VS2, when I saw this photo i kind of panicked. I could spot that inclusion in the photo in a heatbeat. I started seeing if there we're other VS2,F 1.6 that didn't have an inclusion smack right in the middle.
I found one pretty quickly.
This one is gets a (slightly) better HCA score, is EX/EX instead of VG/VG and will be about the same price, and it looks like WF can get it as well.
So now my option is, do I go ahead and buy the one with the crystal, get it sent to an appraiser, sent back (I'm getting it mailed out of state to avoid taxes). Get the stone only to find out I can see the inclusion then send it back to WF and lose about 200 bucks in shipping and other fee's. Or do I have the another diamond I'm looking at sent in, get some photo's taken and get that instead. I live in Austin and can't drive to Houston again any time soon, I had to take a whole day off work for the trip.
Attached is the photo of the stone the 1.63 from WF. If you go James Allen site they have a GIA report of the other stone, the inclusion seems to just be on the crown.
