Do you think .4's would look lame in this setting?

I love my bezels, but I sleep in them, so I've been thinking of doing leverbacks because my studs can be annoying. Do you

1) think I should, and if you do, do you
2) think .4's would be too small for this setting?

I think they would look great in that setting, definitely not too small . That is my favourite style and when I get diamond earrings it will be that style for sure. The way they move really catches the eye and makes them flash as they dance. Love it!

I think that size would look great. I posted in the diamond earring thread I started that the only concern would be the open culets. My DBTY has a .38 solitaire in it and the culet is open and it's fine on, but I've never taken it to a jewelry store to have it clean b/c I'm paranoid of having it chip... also, it cannot be casually set on my dresser or where ever...

I personally think they would look awesome in that kind of setting. No way are they too small for the setting, either. I love leverbacks.

I think it's a great idea!

They'll be fabulous!!! Make sure to post a pic once they get set...

OK, they look pretty good...I just found a pair of old costume earrings with french wires and just removed the earring and put my bezel stud through the jump ring.

They don't look too small...would love it if they were .7's though! There are a couple of things I noticed right off the bat...

- Studs are definitely a more classic, elegant look.
- The dangly bezels were more fun and more sparkly
- I could actually SEE the dangly one...straight on, I rarely see my bezels as my ears are pretty stuck to the side of my head. So for my own enjoyment, it was more fun to see the dangly bezel
- with my hair up or down the dangly more prominent. But with my hair down, much like putting diamonds in a black jewelry box, the diamond really stood out against my black hair vs my fleshy earlobe.

Hm, will have to think about it a little more, but I'm leaning toward the leverbacks.

I think they'd be really pretty-I like the setting a lot!

T-Gal, I love those earrings! Hehehehe, I actually secretly changed my setting from 8-prong martinis to martini dangles for fun. I remember that photo when I was debating changing over! Nice choice! I love them. My only recommendation is to get "baby" or mini-oval leverbacks. I've done diamond leverbacks before but I didn't love them because of the huge acme leverbacks I initially got showing from the back and the side - not a good look for my smallish ears. I also felt like they looked costume jewelry-ish due to the bulky leverback when I had my old ones set that way. Maybe those are smaller?

So this time around, I wanted more diamond to be visible and the acme spring loaded mechanical arm to be minimized. Hehehehe. Plus, I think they hang better. This was my inspiration for the dangles - WhiteFlash's Martini Drop earrings. So beautiful! I would have gotten these but I wanted to use my diamonds. Love love love! I also wonder if mini huggies would make the diamond hang better, too?

Yekutiel found me baby ovals and made me some martini dangles! I didn't bezel them because the nekkid aspect appealed to me. I think the bezels would be great for your diamonds, though!!! I didn't want to bezel mine because they are J color and I was afraid of warmth showing. Let us know how yours turn out... I love love love your bezel studs, by the way. Are you sure you won't miss them?

I think they'd look great!

And I thought of an old thread when I saw this:

:cheeky:

I think they'll look great - go for it! My mom's getting her 0.5s in leverbacks done by DanielM (though prongs, not bezels). She wishes they were 0.7s (or larger!) too :P

Bliss! How could you go to Yekutiel and not show us what you got? No earshots?!? Really unfair, Ms. Bliss.

T-gal: I think they would look great as leverbacks, but I also wonder if you will miss them as studs.

Could you get a cheapie pair of leverbacks and try sleeping in them for a few weeks first? I don't personally like leverbacks at all - I find them very uncomfortable.

I think the fact that the back of a leverback is visible makes it a less "formal" and more "fun" look - I think if you put bezel danglies on post earrings they'd look very professional - but if it's post earrings that you're not comfortable with this is obviously not a solution for you..

I think your stones would look great as leverbacks and I can tell you one thing for sure, leverbacks are a LOT more comfortable and there's no danger of anything getting caught on your earring backs when you get dressed and undressed. I was never able to sleep in post earrings. The post and the back always winds up embedding themselves in my neck (I'm a side sleeper) and that drives me nuts!

Thanks for your input everyone!

Bliss, totally agree...which is why my decision will hinge on getting smaller leverbacks. Already sourcing platinum ones seems to be tougher. I'll just keep them as studs if the leverbacks are not possible to get in the size I want.

I think they'd look cool!

I also love studs though. Are they uncomfortable to sleep in because of the posts poking you? I started using the plastic tube backs at work (I wear a headset, and my earring posts were forever jabbing me) and find them a lot more comfortable.

Tigian! I know! I promise I will take photos and post them! Bad PSer, bad PSer! :naughty:

TGal, wow - let me know if you find platinum leverbacks! The mini-ones are hard to find as it is in WG. I cannot WAIT to see yours! That size would be awesome for bezels. Your studs are just so pretty as they are... I hope you don't miss them!

How about this idea? Use sleepers and then add the diamonds as dangles. Comfortable and much more attractive from all angles than the lever backs.

I know I'm strange, but I like the look over leverbacks better (although I admit, those sleepers are more elegant, refined and prettier overall)

Now I'm hesitating, as I found a necklace I want for my birthday...but it's $2800!!!
