I hated having to get a present for each member of my DH's family. We didn't do gifts anymore really with my parents, but if there were kids visiting we did. It was a bit overwhelming having to get presents for his whole family all the time...
It was also frustrating bc for years we'd get things we didn't want or need. DH wasn't good at returning stuff. He's stuff his presents in a drawer and forget about them. We just gave everyone gift cards. Over time, some family members asked and gave us what we wanted. We always got things as we needed them so for the most part gift cards worked the best... my MIL was the worst. I think she's addicted to shopping bc she's always at the same department store in her free time buying returning etc... at least once a week sometimes 2-3x. When I relented and said she could buy me an outfit she freaked out like I told her she'd win lotto. It's weird...
Since they're not talking to me I think I've dodged a major bullet!
