Do you prefer red stones w. undertones of violet/blue or orange? Just wondering.

"Stop light red" would have orange undertones, correct?

Thanks.

For me it''s violet/blue hands down. Don''t care for red/orange because orange is a variant of brown.

Violet/blue here too.

Same here. My eyes see orangy red colors as sort of brownish I think.

I prefer violet.

I think of stop light red as perfectly balanced.

I always prefer a bluish red over orangey red, but sometimes an orangey red is just wow (talking generally, not gemstones).

I prefer orange. Blue violet usually looks magenta or pinky to me, and strangely enough I prefer a little brown to a little pink.

Violet for me as well. But I''m not a big fan of orange or orange-ish shades in general.

I''m not really into the blue color, so definitely orange for me! I love how sunny and cozy orange is.

And I actually like brown.

orange

Definitely orange for me - happily so since it tends to be slightly less popular than the reds that veer towards the blue.

Ditto for me too. It has to be a really, really rockin orange for me to even consider it.

Me being the gem lover I am I would take one of each.

Orange. I hate the bluish red.

Another blue/violet. I just flat out don''t like orange.

violet

Violet!

Violet - I love cool reds. Warm reds can seem rather brash to me.

anyone have some examples they can post side by side? thanks!

I was going to say orange but then I took a look at all my red/pink stones and realized that they were split pretty much 50/50 between orange and violet.

I prefer blue undertones to my reds, whether in gemstones, clothing, lipstick, cars, etc. I just won''t purchase orangish reds. My little ruby that I got from Diamond Expert is stop light red indoors, and goes a bit more raspberry (a blue-red) in sunlight. I love it. A perfect stone for me.

Normally, I would have answered blue/violet, however after my experience with the BB garnet, I now have an open mind. I love the flashes of orange and how they meld so nicely with the red, which has given me a new appreciation of orange stones..

Orange. But that is because it matches my skin tone. I am guessing those who choose blue/violet do so because it matches their skin tone. I think we all kinda know what looks best on ourselves.

All creation by mother nature has its own beauty - if the viewer can find it. The only difference is how much we are willing to pay for it.

It''s funny, because I do like orange and pink, like a padparadscha, and I like orange and yellow, like a mandarin spessartite, but I don''t care much for orange and red.

I like a hint of orange in my red. I also don''t mind a hint of blue in the red. It all depends on how pretty the stone is, of course.

Orange. Check out a good flame spinel!

definitely! I''ve seen some incredible spesses on PS and those would make me change my mind on the color, so orange isn''t completely out, though

Either! Depends on how they''re set too.
