Do you need a limo if you are having your ceremony and reception at the same place?

Is anyone having their ceremony and reception at a hotel and they are giving you a complimentary hotel room for the night? If so, are you having a limo? If you are... where are you going? Around the town?

We have a venue site that is an option for us and they will give a room for the night. My Fiance says that we don''t need a limo but I would love the going away shots at the end of the ceremony. So I was wondering if anyone has been in this situation or will be and what are you going to do.

Thanks!

Our reception and ceremony are at the same place, but we''ll be going somewhere else for the wedding night. We''re not going to have a limo. We''re on a pretty tight budget and can''t justify having one when we don''t have anywhere for it to take us.

Hee hee, we had our ceremony/reception at the same site, and our hotel was less than 1 mile away...we did rent a limo, though...to take us basically down the street. I think it ended up being around $100 with tip, and it did make for some fun pictures. I can''t say it was totally worth it, but if you have the spare cash you might consider it, especially if you plan to do something fun with your bridal party afterwards. Our wedding was on a Sunday afternoon, and friends of ours, including the bridal party, wanted to join us at our hotel in the bar for (more) drinks after the reception. It was nice to have the limo so we didn''t have to worry about transportation for ourselves.

we had ours at the same place as well but stayed downtown (about 20 mins away) for our wedding night (same hotel my parents spent their wedding night) We had a limo take us there but if we got married AT that hotel we wouldn''t have bothered.

We are going to have the ceremony and reception at the same place and we are either going to get a limo to drive us to the hotel or rent a hot car. I would love to rent a really sexy car but it might not be fun to drive right after the reception, even though we aren''t planning to get drunk or anything.

Our ceremony and reception will be at the same place, but we''ll be staying somewhere else, plus we''re thinking about having an after party for the wedding party and family. I think we might either get a limo or a town car and maybe go around town with our photographer, but I''m thinking about renting a bus for the wedding party because there are so many of them and I don''t want them to have to worry about getting lost or drinking too much, plus one of the groomsmen is in a wheelchair so we already need a vehicle with a chair lift. I think it might be easier to just get a small coach with a lift than multiple vehicles. Still just a thought right now though.

our ceremony and reception are on the same property- different areas,
so we are having a horse and carriage take me from the "prep room" to the church, and then the 2 of us around afterwards for photos.

so...although i''d love a limo for the 25 mile ride from home to the venue, it will probably be in my sisters minivan, with my dress in the back!

interesting...all the weddings i''ve been involved in, the limo takes everyone TO the ceremony and then to pictures and the reception if they are different places, but usually you are on your own to get where you are going at the end of the night.. So if my reception was at the same place as my ceremony and I was staying the night there, i MIGHT get a limo to take me and the girls there in the afternoon.

We are having our ceremony and reception at the same place too. Though I havent made any plans yet, I think I am going to get a limo to take the girls and I up to the site (which is about an hr away) after we get our hair and makeup done around here...it would just be easier that way, I think. And then I will probably get a service again to take the whole w-party to the hotel where we will be staying for the night afterwards...I know most of us will be drinking, and I dont want anyone
driving, so.......Plus, its more fun that way!!!

No limo. COulda had one, as we left for our honeymoon right after the reception, but didn''t. Figured, why waste the money? To us, the best pictures would have been of us arriving at the reception site. Since it was at the same place, that wasn''t gonna happen. Our reception ended at nite which woulda had some nice shots, but we didn''t wanna pay for a limo that would really only be seen in half the expected time.

Thought about decorating a car too, but decided against it since we wouldn''t ever be in it really.

why spend the money?

we had the ceremony and reception at the same place we were spending the night. we did not hire a limo. i''m not really sure what we would have done with it.

you can still do get-away pictures without the fancy car. have your guests line up and blow bubbles, wave sparklers or throw petals as you come through the rows. you''ll still have a great exit and you''ll save money.

We had the ceremony/reception at the same place and they gave us a room for the night. We did not rent a limo. I tend to be more practical and agree with lady kemma, why spend the money?

Perhaps you can have a limo take you and your bridal party from wherever you are meeting to the venue so you can take pictures then. Personally, I wouldn''t but if that''s a priority for you, then fit it into your budget.

I wouldn''t spend the money unless you REALLY wanted it for the pictures. Our ceremony and reception site are just about 3 miles from each other, so I doubt we''ll bother, unless we decide to go somewhere further away for pictures in between.

We had the ceremony and reception at the same place, so we took a limo to the ceremony. We had my sister drive my car to the reception and we drove my car to the hotel and then back home the next day.

This makes sense, Dani! I thought about doing this but then I tried to figure out how the girls will get their cars. If they come to my house, we take the limo to the venue... they won''t have their cars. Unless i have the limo pick us up.... but then they still don''t have their cars! Arrgghh! LOL

We had our ceremony, reception and honeymoon night all in the same place. I guess we could''ve gotten a limo from my parents'' house to the hotel, but we didn''t. We never got a limo...didn''t see the need for it.

I think I am going to go with the majority... at least for now. That money for the limo can go to a sorbet intermission!

Thanks for all your feedback, ladies!!!
