Stari did you end up purchasing this stone? I had contacted Sarah about it, and she said someone was contemplating purchasing it, and then a day later got back to me said they had purchased it. If this was you, I think you got a great stone!! I kept watching the videos over and over again, and just kept falling in love with it. I hummed and hawed over contacting GoG about it, but kept putting it off. I know this is not the stone for me since the timing was not right, but I was thinking "whoever got this stone is SO lucky!"

Thank you for your kind words!

Yes, it's me. :) I put the stone on hold on 8/19 and then waited all weekend to call GOG to ask about it. Jon talked to me about the stone and sent me a link to a video of it. He also told me they offer longer financing than what is listed on their website which was perfect for me. Even though Jon gave his stamp of approval I'm glad that the PS community agrees.

I look forward to hearing about your stone when you get one! The search can be fun! I mean... What am I going to do with my free time now that I've found my diamond?!?

Stari

I guess with all your free time you can help others find their perfect stone...

Yes indeed!!

I'm currently searching now, and it is fun looking at all the beautiful options out there, but it can get frustrating at times because the search can be so exhausting, and I can't get that feeling like a diamond is the "one" for me. I decided to talk to Adam at OWD to see what he has around, since I found a great stone on their website and decided to not hum and haw this time around. I've also been stalking the JbEG website, looking at GoG periodically, and when I want to take a break, look at settings :cheeky:

If you have any tips or suggestions, I'm happy to hear them! I hope that I can find my diamond before I drive myself crazy and before my bf changes his mind about our budget

I wish I could help! You're definitely on the track by enlisting the help of a reputable expert. Since I didn't have a huge budget I had to make some compromises... But I also got lucky to get a stone with good performance at a good price. I think one of the downsides of shopping online is that you're not seeing the sparkle in person and therefore you're not connecting with it emotionally. Which might be why you don't feel like you're finding the one. I feel a lot of comfort in knowing that my vendor has a refund policy and trade up policy. Just in case!

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful! I look forward to hearing about your diamond when you choose it!

YAYYYY glad my work paid off for both of us! :D Whats the setting like?

Yes it did! Jon told me "I just did that exact search!" He also told me that the 1.9 M is the best for the $$ for what's available right now. That made it easy for me to decide!

It's going into a temporary setting. Just a boring solitaire. I have to wait a year before I can afford the setting I'm enamored with. It's a setting from Single Stone. http://www.singlestone.com/index.php?page=collections&catID=3&pID=1237&startRow=25

A PSer just had it made for her stone but with some changes. I'm guessing it will cost in the 4-5k range. : /

Well we called in a TON of stones so yea, he knows whats out there.

...of course I know that SS setting, its so pretttty ... I was quoted between 4500 and 5500 for a couple of their settings that I inquired about. Its just so much money - the designs are gorg and its so hard to find anything comparable. I just had a tough setting decision to make, but I will be happy with it for a while - then upgrade in like 5 years to some disgustingly expensive and intricate custom antique repro :naughty:

It so, so is such a great deal for retail!

The style of setting you want really should not be made to have a flush wedding band. Think about it before you try and mess with such a tried and true design. Part of the beauty of the mount is the full basket with lovely filigree detailing, and if you taper the basket enough to have a flush fit you will lose basket realestate and I think lose the flow of the setting. Also, I personally find that having a nice larger basekt makes the diamond look bigger ;)) Gives the ring great hand presence. Don't mess with it! :rodent:

"disgustingly expensive and intricate custom antique repro" haha love it!

4,500-5,500 seems like a lot of $$ for a setting when the stone only cost 8k. Maybe I'll need to upgrade my stone to make it worthy of such a setting. ;)

Honestly, settings are so difficult! I read your thread so I know you can relate. I paid GOG extra to get the lifetime trade up. But I don't know if I will keep this stone or upgrade it someday. I really want to put this stone in some kind of a halo to make it look bigger, but I can't do that until I'm committed to keeping this stone forever. I want it in a pretty setting that makes it look bigger!

Ahh, thank you. I needed to know that!

I love filigree! And I'm all for anything that makes the stone look bigger. ;) but I don't love that the wedding band has to sit all by its lonesome

Just a suggestion... (I love the SS setting) but if you decide it's too much you might try JbEG.. I hear they are bringing their settings back.. they might have a more affordable setting..
