*Do You Like These Snowflake Earrings?*

I always liked these earrings, but not enough to take the leap and buy them. I had considered having them custom made one day in yellow gold, but now the store that sells them is going out of business. I will not be able to get the jeweler who designed these to make me new ones in yellow gold...or at least I would have to see whether I could negotiate something right now even to see if I could do so and I am not ready to do that now. In the meantime the price has been reduced.

I think they are lovely, but I really do not need another pair of earrings. I think I want to buy them because they will not be available anymore after this store closes. What do you think of the earrings? They were designed by the store's bench jeweler who made a lot of my jewelry.

They are not my style, but I think you should get them if you wouldn't be able to get them in the future!

I actually adore these! But then again I spent years in New England so just looking at these reminds me of the early years I spent with my husband (then BF) while we weathered out the winters. Truly I love this earrings though they are not my style at all! I think they would look amazing during the winter time/ holiday time dressed up or down! I personally say go for it and I don't think I'm an enabler usually. Typically unless I really **really** want it I don't pull the trigger.

And complete side note but I GOT MY CAKE AND IT WAS WONDERFUL!!! I tried to send you an email AGBF but I couldn't find the email you contacted with me. But the cake was delicious and such a nice surprise!!!!! My children think you are an angel! :saint:

HI:

Deb, these earrings are lovely, yes charming......but not something I would consider "investing" in for custom work because they would not be a "staple" in my wardrobe. But for my ridiculous ER/eternity ring, I have downsized my jewellery collection to such an extent that I desire or require "workhorse' pieces that 'go' with everything. KWIM? But that is just me.

That said I'd own your 'pretzel' any day! Just give me the word!

cheers--Sharon

Deb, I'll kind of have to echo Sharon. I think I am just more into classic pieces. They are pretty, but I would think they'd get such limited wear that it just wouldn't be worth it to me.

(Sharon, I am curious about what you meant about "downsizing" your jewelry collection??? I haven't talked to you lately!)

 Do not tell me that Grunberger's is going out of business?!!!

Talk to me anytime! And it's all good in a manageable number of jewellery pieces sort of way!

cheers--Sharon

I couldn't say it out loud or write it. I just learned two or three days ago and the first thing I thought of was how I planned to get together with you at the local Hyatt and play there and at other local jewelry stores. (I hope our outing is still on!) I am more depressed than I could tell you.

It did! Though the cake place did call to follow up to make sure everything was fine. They are very nice. I will definitely order from them in the future! Once again i'm sorry I never emailed to say thank you!!!!!!! I did try!

Hi Deb,

First I can't get a feeling for size. If they are small and delicate, I don't like them. If they are larger they may make more of a statement. In a snowflake design I would like something bolder.

Hi Deb,

They are quite pretty but these days I'm with Sharon. I've been paring my collection down to pieces that I wear most often and are of a certain quality. I've come to the conclusion that fewer but exquisite pieces are better than a huge collection of things that I may only wear once a year. That said, if you think of these often and are sorry that you don't have them then I would certainly get them while you still have the chance. There are pieces that I've missed out on and still think about and it drives me crazy.

I am not getting them. Thank you all for your replies. I have too many "silly little pieces" as it is. I would infinitely prefer to have the pared down collection that Sharon has. I wish that some, or all, of my good pieces had sold when I consigned them. I am sorry that I cannot give my jewelry to my daughter. I do not think that my two nieces would particularly appreciate it. I did give a blue sapphire eternity band that my husband and I had recently given my mother for Christmas to my sister-in law when my mother passed away. (Her jewelry went to me...so I have it to dispose of.) I gave my mother's diamond eternity band to my godson to use as his wife's wedding band a year and a half ago. But I want to give jewelry to people to whom it will mean something.

I am so there with all of you in regard to having a few great pieces over too many things that I don't even wear. I have been working on that ever since I came to PS. I do not desire 50 rings or pairs of earrings because many would never be worn. I have already sold my old gold pieces other than a few favorite or sentimental pieces and really just want a very classic platinum/white gold collection for wear most of the time.

Deb, I am astounded that Grunberger's is closing!!! :(( Yes, I really do plan on coming up there sometime between November and next summer!

And I am not sure if you sold your red spinel ring or not   , but there are probably 20 people here who'd like to buy it if you haven't. And I call first dibsif you do want to sell it (but may not be able to afford it  ) !!!

ds-

I haven't wanted to violate Pricescope protocols by discussing what I want to sell too explicitly. I said only that I had consigned all my major pieces with my local jeweler, who-as we now know-is closing his doors. (I was probably incorrect if I said he was, "going out of business". I believe that may imply that a merchant had a downturn in his business and I do not know if that was the case for Jim. I believe he had just been in the jewelry business for a very long time and that he has other fish to fry. I know he owns a big, new pizza place/restaurant next door to his jewelry store.)

The red spinel ring had been for sale, however.

Deb, would you consider the Pre-loved forum here? Because many people, myself included (twice), have sold items to other PS members. There is a lot more exposure here than in a typical jewelry store. And for more valuable pieces, you can use an appraiser as your intermediary person. You can list them on LoupeTroop which likely has mostly PS people viewing.

At one point a few months ago I signed up for Better Than Diamonds because I thought that one could list something there or on eBay and use the Pre-loved forum. Is LoupeTroop better than one of those alternatives and, if so, why?

Hi Deb,

You can list them on all the sites mentioned. I'm replying to this thread now, as i really want to say how sorry I am that you are considering a sale of your beautiful spinel. I would re-think that if I were you. As people have already commented that they want a special collection of jewels, I think that one-the spinel- falls into that caregory. If you sell, you will know I will be sitting behind my computer shaking my head.

Thank you, Annette. In the past few days I have undergone a couple of experiences that should not, perhaps, have hit me as hard as they did. But they left me feeling humiliated and diminished. I keep thinking that I should conduct myself more quietly and with more humility so that I do not get myself into trouble. Because there is no doubt that my own arrogance, even if it is expressed as exuberance and enthusiasm, gets me repeatedly into trouble. Your posting made me cry.

Again: thank you for caring what I felt.

Hi Deb,

I think you are going through tough times. I sometimes think it might really feel creepy to people to think that some stranger is sort of keeping track of their doings. I think its your hardship with the daughter that allows me to keep me eye out for whats going on with you. I actually do that with gypsy as well. A few others too. It might be creepy, but I really do feel for you. In fact after you get your daughter resettled, I have a vacation planned for you, where you can wear your spinel.

You need a vacation. Maybe you and Gypsy can go together. I don't do hugs much, but a soft kiss on the top of your head I will do, or your forehead if you prefer.
