Do you keep jewellery that you never wear? Why? Tell me

I only like classic modern, I wonder if since antique looks are so in fashion just now, if they won't become dated anyway. I would think the old real antique rings in excellent condition would be what collectors want. I have read to keep stones in real antique rings they come with rather than reset them and get them checked for safety and only wear on occasion is the best way to treat antique pieces. If I remember, it is the carved rings that hold the most value. I have a little one like this, but I think mine is probably cast and then carved and so doesn't count. I still have some yellow gold and like it again, but they were never over the top pieces to begin with.

The biggest reason is because I like most of what I have and convince myself that I will wear it at some point.

I go in spurts where I try to get more disciplined about selling, usually when I've been on a buying binge, but never get past a few items because it's too time consuming to sell things.

Yeah some sentimental stuff I inherited from my grandmother & Nanna so it’s old fashioned or silver which I don’t wear much. Some of it is quite fragile etc. I don’t feel I can sell it but would rather pass it on down to my nieces.

I don't have jewelry that I've never worn. My poor DH had to return things that I really disliked. My tastes changed over the years so I have pieces in the jewelry box that haven't been worn in some time. There aren't many in this category, maybe a few rings and earrings. I'm keeping them because my tastes may change again or I may gift them to my kids or nieces as birthday presents as they get old enough to take care of fine jewelry.

I have loads that I don't wear or rarely wear, bc of several reasons: 1) I like the look of them on their own/ on other people but they don't look good on me; 2) my taste has evolved over time; and 3) some were bc I was experimenting and see if I'd like them.

So, these categories are:
1) loads of pearl jewellery: they make me look frumpy, I think. But I love how they look on my friends and how organic they are. I also used to live in China and they're a lot less expensive there. Have given quite a few items away but still have some.
2) smaller diamond jewellery: well, my taste has evolved and I prefer bigger bling now.
3) coloured stone rings & earrings: again, I love how they look on my friends but not so much on me. I bought a few and wore them for a while and got bored with them, lol.

I should really have a jewellery sale, but am lazy!

I traded in some to purchase something I like more. Some I'll never sell for sentimental reasons. I also hang on those that I won't recoup the money I spent (branded items and diamonds). Although most of them sit on the box because I view them as some sort of emergency fund/saving/investment (mostly yellow gold bought based on weight and purity). Besides, I like variety and I keep thinking someday I'll wear them again.

I'd be interested in seeing that sale, @Phoenix! :)

I have several things that I don't wear for the same reasons listed:
1. Not my style anymore
2. The pieces have sentimental value and/or were given to me when I was much younger.
3. I'm honestly a bit intimidated trying to sell things privately for anything of value.

That said, I have sold a couple of things on consignment through my local jeweler.
