Do you have a "REAL ID"?

I’ll use my passport or passport card in place of real ID until it’s time to renew my drivers license.

Same. I only go to the DMV when I HAVE to. I also have no desire to give them extra money.

My passport is sufficient for now.

... so they could give you and I free booze, needles, and heroin? :lol-2:
I can use some FREE booze but no drugs for me.

Booze is a drug.
Booze and coffee are my drugs.

Being legal does not make booze, coffee, & tobacco not drugs.
They just have very powerful lobbies in Washington D.C. ... follow the money, and all.

Law-making politicians want mostly to be re-elected ... so much for America being God's pious, righteous & pure democracy.

Why? You think I'm consistent about all that health food crap? :lol-2:
I don't just touch booze; I drink it. ;))

I'm gonna live forever because I eat healthy food and am preserved by alcohol.

I wish we have ID cards in UK!!!

Coming from HK that was a former colony, I grew up having ID cards, and had my HK one upgraded to an all singing and dancing biometric one when I went back for a visit in 2011. I fondly remember having to go through the process of fingerprint and retina scanning. It was so much easier going in and out of HK with the ID card than to use my UK passport!

Hence I am dismayed by all the fuss and objections every time an administration in UK tried to introduce ID cards in UK.

Considering the passport is not generally accepted as a proof of identity as it is regarded as a travel document and does not link to a postal address, I have to rely on my photo driving licence as ID instead, and I carry that with me all the time even though there is no requirement to do so in UK.

DK :))

I don’t understand it either @dk168, it wouldn’t bother me to carry an ID card. Those objecting are probably the same ones who’re protesting about the lockdown measures and claiming Covid19 is a hoax!

I agree, likely to be the same minorities who treasure "freedom" everything and anything!

My own personal sentiment is that I have nothing to hide so I have nothing to worry about, and am prepared to lose some degree of privacy for the sake of national security, and to keep our free healthcare for genuine UK citizens rather than being sponged off by health tourists from other countries! Grrrrr!!!

Our immigration system is too soft, however, perhaps I should not complain, as they let me stay and work here after I completed my studies!!! :lol-2:

If you have ever grabbed a handful of freshly fallen snow and put it in your mouth, you will know by the taste that it is hardly pure. It is cold and refreshing, but definitely not pure.

Oh, with snow, you definitely want D color, not L-M-N-O-P color...

Wink

As the saying goes, don't eat yellow snow - I should know as I have a dog (and a cat)!

I agree with much of what you say. In South Africa we all have an ID card. Previously it was a book, now it’s just a card. I also have a driver’s license and SA and UK passport. I don’t see why people in the UK complain about having ID cards. It really is so minor, IMO.

But I also disagree with you - as someone trying to move to the UK with my non-UK spouse and our non-UK children, I can assure you the immigration process is far from soft! ;))

Nope---don't visit the federal facilities that require it and use my passport for air travel. We have Global Entry so don't need Real ID.
Sadly, we won't be flying any time soon. Normally we fly 6-8 times per year.

Nope. I will get RealID when my licence expires and just use my passport until then. I renewed it last year so I am set for 9 more years. Too afraid to fly now anyway with Covid. Only would fly in an emergency.

We had planned to get Real ID before flying this month but since our trip was cancelled, we haven't done it yet. But we will just in case we ever decide to go anywhere again!

We don't want to use passports for domestic air travel partly because they are very desirable items to be stolen, and also they are more bulky than a license and much more trouble to replace. I like to travel light!

I don't see why the government needs my fingerprints, retina scans and biometric data generally - if I'm doing nothing wrong, why do they need it? 'Just in case' I turn into a criminal?

If you extend that logic, you'd be happy to be locked up 'just in case'.

Minority Report 'pre-crime' incarceration here we come!
