Do you answer your door?

Hmm, must be a cultural thing. I don't live in the US and I would find it really odd to either not answer the door or to go to someone's house who you know is home and they ignore the doorbell.

We have a camera on our front door, so i check and decide whether i'll answer it or not. When DH was living in Toronto and i was visiting him, i NEVER answered the door!!! (he didn't answer it either!!!)

Do you have people coming to your door asking for you to buy stuff? Our subdivision has a not solicitor sign, but solicitors ignore it.

A few months back a guy came to the door and I opened it and he asked where I wanted my newspaper delivered (to the door or to the driveway). I said I didn't order a newspaper. He said they were doing a free promotion where the newspaper would be delivered daily for the month but just had to pay for the Sunday editions. I said no, but the guy kept pushing and pushing. I said we read the news online and had to shut the door in his face. Why put up with THAT crap?

I sometimes holler, who is it? or look out the window. Sometimes I don't depending on the time of day (late, no thanks). We get random people trying to sell things and that bugs me.
