FireGoddess:
I''m not about to tell someone GET insurance or DON''T get insurance when I don''t know what their situation is. I''d rather give a suggestion as to when insurance might be appropriate. I''m curious as to what advice would you give?
Stebbo:
I wouldn''t in such a short space.

FireGoddess:
Interesting. There is no limit on the length of a post - you have all the space you would want or need, it would seem. I still stand by what I said, since the question was posed to us. It may be a cliche to you, but I find it''s a helpful guideline to the majority of people that ask.

Indeed.

And while you''re at it, could you explain what creative description you''d like us to come up with to explain to posters what the HCA should really be used for, instead of the most succint, which is, it''s used to weed out the poor performers? Yes, I caught your post to workinghard in the Proposal section, and it left me scratching my head....

That''s cool, a blanket rule about ''needing'' insurance without even regard to cost of premiums just irks me.

And there is a limit on the length of a post if one is not prepared to spend days making it captivating. WHFSR learnt that...

Rest his poor soul...

Funny, I was just writing about WHFSR.

Painful to read, but he definitely added fresh content to the search engine. Weeding is a fine and accurate statement, but I admired the way WHFSR just didn't say the same old thing but put his own flavor on it.

I do not insure my wife''s diamond ring. I hate insurance with a passion, aside from major medical and liability. I don''t even have comprehensive insurance on my car.

Insurance is like blackjack. On average, in the long run, you loose! The house ALWAYS makes money.

If the insurance company doesn''t make any money off the premiums, then they would not offer their insurance service/business. They exist to make a profit.

Refusing to patronize businesses that are making money is a way to guarantee that you are only doing business with either liars or fools. This comes with it’s own problems. I don’t disagree that, on average, insurance is a losing deal financially but it can have a huge payoff in the form of the peace of mind and the ability to wear your jewelry as you wish with confidence that, if something should happen, it’s someone else’s problem.
