Ladies we must be ever mindful of reality and our own desires.
Reality: In person the mounts look 100% fine with the naked eye and are (most likely) 100% safe for the stones. Even with my 10x loupe they look pretty good. This is 40x magnification.
Own desires: Settings than look great in macro mode.
I do not think it would be reasonable at this point to demand a refund. But I won't be using this jeweler again. The time for me to ask for a refund was before I let them work on it again. The only think I would perhaps do differently is insist on new mounts when I went back to complain. But in the end, I wanted to see if they were capable of doing work that would make me happy. The answer is no. But I do not choose to make this type of issue a major cause of stress in my life. I will wear these as is for a while, and then will get settings that are to my standards.
