Let's say I found a GIA 3EX or AGS Ideal 0 stone and it returns a HCA <2.0 and is AGA Grade 1A. Furthermore the IS and ASET show great light performance. Should I then get a Sarin or Helium scan done to check the actual proportions?
Presumably GIA and AGS do some sort of proportion scans to determine symmetry and cut grades but they don't list this data in the reports. Is there a way to obtain this data from them? Or should I just assume that the variance in various proportions is minimal hence their rating?
I'm not looking at branded Super Ideal cuts so I'm wondering if I need to also do a Sarin or Helium scan to further verify the diamond. Or will the GIA 3EX/AGS 0, HCA/ACA score, and IS/ASET images suffice? This is merely for an engagement ring and not for investment purposes so I'm wondering what amount of testing is adequate. Thanks.
