I love this diamond that @Kim N helped me find. I am not wanting to return or exchange it. Just to learn about the process of selecting a good one.

Thank you in advance for sharing any wisdom!

I’ll post my ring when it is done.

Remember, the HCA is used as a tool to eliminate a diamond from the mix. If you have seen it and love it, I wouldn't worry about it. My decision would not be swayed by HCA if all other factors are what I want them to be.

Most ideal cut stones will get Very Good for Spread, so there's nothing to worry about. Only fairly shallow stones will get Excellent.

Thank you for the education!

This is a diamond with proportions lending to a little more fire than a shallower spready diamond under 2.0 HCA which would likely be a touch brighter.
Those are nice proportions.
For every 0.2 degrees shallower than 40.75 pavilion angle one should add 1.0 degree to the so called optimum 34.5 crown angle. And visa versa. So beside a Tolkowsky ideal this diamond would match perfectly.

This is so wonderful to know! And helps me learn! And delights me! So thanks for sharing :)

“Brighter” means… white light?
