We are in the same boat! What are you getting? Pics?
I completely understand going the rescue route but I have had my heart set on a mini Aussie for a long time. My childhood dog was an Aussie and I loved him so much. Our current dogs were both rescued, Dirk the lab, was from an accident litter of 2 full blood labs. Long story there, but we ended up with a fabulous dog. He's nearly human (except he will get the corn husks from tamales out of the trash every single time, lol). We adopted Gus, the mix, from a no kill shelter when he was about 12 weeks old. He was fostered by a really nice old lady who spoiled him rotten. We have definitely had challenges with Gus. He looks exactly like a brown and white Border Collie. He absolutely loves us. LOVES US. He's fine with other dogs but not so much people outside our family. He really scared me a few times snarling at my kids friends. Last year we sent him to an intensive training camp for 6 weeks. We missed him terribly but they sent weekly videos and kept in touch with his progress. It was the only way we could keep him; although he never bit anyone, he was on his way. When he came back, he was unbelievably well trained. He is a much better dog but we all still watch him closely. He doesn't "act out" very often but we all had to learn to handle him. Gus has my heart for sure but it was pretty stressful, and training was $3600!!! So, this time I am going buy from a breeder. I know it probably seems a bit selfish but I would like to have a better idea of temperament, kwim?
Soooooo, I sent the deposit!!!!
I knew that would be the outcome!! Lol! So excited for you! Nothing like a puppy to make life fun!
Here are a few pics. We went to see him and omg, he's adorable and very playful. One eye is bright blue and the other is amottled brown/blue.
Unfortunately we couldn't hold him because he hasn't had all his vaccinations yet. The breeder is ultra cautious so that's a good thing. Cannot wait to get him next weekend!

He may be the cutest little fluff ball I’ve ever seen!
There’s something so beautiful about Aussies. Those eyes man!! I almost got one years ago but they are so high energy and I am so not. Lol.
Congrats on adding this handsome boy to your family. Have you worked out any names yet?
@Gussie we’ve had three dogs for two and a half days and it’s going okay. The older two are kind of jerks and one is being tolerant and wants to hang out but not engage (this is still a good sign, I think) and the other really doesn’t like him. It will work out in the end. My husband and I are splitting the work and our older dogs are still getting long solo walks, car trips, etc so they’re not ignored.
