Do I need this? Enablers welcome.

YESS!! So glad you got the beautiful little guy. Please keep us updated with names and photos!

My boy isn’t even CONCEIVED let alone born yet but I have the crate delivered and a dog bed coming next week; the dog tag arrived a month ago .

We are in the same boat! What are you getting? Pics?

A Newfoundland! Fingers crossed that he’s what the breed usually is. I have a thread and will post some when I pick him up on Saturday.

We got our 8 year old dog to help with the 9 year old. He has a vet behaviorist who said “he’s sweet but untrainable” and he continues to see him to monitor his behavior to make sure he doesn’t get aggressive as he gets older (he hasn’t) but he’s a total mess and getting even stranger. I could write a book on him as I suspect you could about yours. I’ve been around dogs all my life and have never had such a challenging animal.

Anyway, I applaud your efforts for your rescues. Many wouldn’t have done what you’ve done and you deserve a sweet pup (and I suspect the others will love him!).

Oh Yay! Very excited for you, just watch out because as you know they are so smart. Mine outwits me sometimes!

I completely understand going the rescue route but I have had my heart set on a mini Aussie for a long time. My childhood dog was an Aussie and I loved him so much. Our current dogs were both rescued, Dirk the lab, was from an accident litter of 2 full blood labs. Long story there, but we ended up with a fabulous dog. He's nearly human (except he will get the corn husks from tamales out of the trash every single time, lol). We adopted Gus, the mix, from a no kill shelter when he was about 12 weeks old. He was fostered by a really nice old lady who spoiled him rotten. We have definitely had challenges with Gus. He looks exactly like a brown and white Border Collie. He absolutely loves us. LOVES US. He's fine with other dogs but not so much people outside our family. He really scared me a few times snarling at my kids friends. Last year we sent him to an intensive training camp for 6 weeks. We missed him terribly but they sent weekly videos and kept in touch with his progress. It was the only way we could keep him; although he never bit anyone, he was on his way. When he came back, he was unbelievably well trained. He is a much better dog but we all still watch him closely. He doesn't "act out" very often but we all had to learn to handle him. Gus has my heart for sure but it was pretty stressful, and training was $3600!!! So, this time I am going buy from a breeder. I know it probably seems a bit selfish but I would like to have a better idea of temperament, kwim?

Soooooo, I sent the deposit!!!!20200617_162917.jpgResized_20180811_182857.jpeg
I knew that would be the outcome!! Lol! So excited for you! Nothing like a puppy to make life fun!

Look at that little nose! I'm in love.

So happy you got him!

I have 3 dogs and a cat & a grown daughter home from college due to covid19- so not exactly a child! But @mrs-b raised good points and apparently you have considered all pros and cons. So congrats!!!

Here are a few pics. We went to see him and omg, he's adorable and very playful. One eye is bright blue and the other is a 20200619_183427.jpgmottled brown/blue. 20200619_183412.jpgUnfortunately we couldn't hold him because he hasn't had all his vaccinations yet. The breeder is ultra cautious so that's a good thing. Cannot wait to get him next weekend! 20200619_183441.jpg

He's a doll! :kiss2:

He may be the cutest little fluff ball I’ve ever seen!
There’s something so beautiful about Aussies. Those eyes man!! I almost got one years ago but they are so high energy and I am so not. Lol.

Congrats on adding this handsome boy to your family. Have you worked out any names yet?

Thanks! We're going to name him Opie!

Adorable! Puppy breath ❤️

He’s so cute!!!

Congratulations, @Gussie; he's a doll!! And I just know he'll have the very best life with you! :wavey:

@Gussie we’ve had three dogs for two and a half days and it’s going okay. The older two are kind of jerks and one is being tolerant and wants to hang out but not engage (this is still a good sign, I think) and the other really doesn’t like him. It will work out in the end. My husband and I are splitting the work and our older dogs are still getting long solo walks, car trips, etc so they’re not ignored.

A lot of work but well worth it. I'm in the puppy trenches right now! Enjoy your new addition. So cute and beautiful.

He’s precious!

I'm sure they will be the best of buddies in no time. I think it takes time for any adjustment. Our plan is similar- give the two older ones tons of attention. We had 3 once before and it all worked out.

Your new guy is sooooo adorable! I'm counting down the days til we get ours!

Omg that pup is too cute!

So excited for you and your family today!! :appl:
Post lots of pictures of adorable Opie!

HI:

@Gussie I saw Opie's mate today! She was a mini and SSSSSOOOOOO adorable! We were out for a cycle and saw this little sweetie out walking with her family. It was hot and humid so she was panting---that fluffy coat not helping!

cheers--Sharon
