I know that if there is diamond rubbing against metal, then that isn't good and a spacer is needed. I have a white gold channel set eternity wedding band and it rubs against the basket if my platinum ering. Do I need a spacer? I am thinking no because the spacer would end up doing the same thing as the wedding band anyway...sorry for the silly question...

No such thing as a silly question, silly :)

I dont think so, it sounds like its just metal on metal rubbing yes? The metal on the sides of your channel set rubbing up against one of the prongs on your basket? Is that right? That should be fine.

ETA: though i had heard someone saying that platinum can eat WG, so maybe there is more to consider :read:

agreed it's not a silly questions. However, I had the same problem when I was wearing a setting with a basket head and I have a shared prong wedding band and it rubbed bad! I'd have to get my ring repolished and redipped often. If I kept wearing the setting I would have gotten a spacer or a curved band.

It depends on what the wedding band is rubbing. If the e-ring is set low and the w-band is rubbing the prongs of the e-ring, then yes, you need a tiny, low spacer. If it just touches the side of the shank (band), no, you don't need a spacer.

Agree with this. My channel set wedding ring rubbed the trellis prongs of my ering, which started to erode. I think it was the sharp edge of the wedding ring that did it. I now wear a .75mm spacer, which prevents the sharp side from touching prongs.

A spacer is inexpensive insurance to protect from rubbing...
