Do half bezel/full bezels block a diamond''s sparkle?

For an e-ring, does a full or half bezel setting block a diamond''s sparkle, even partially, compared to a 4 or 6 prong head?

I had a half bezel setting (my avatar) and it didn''t block the sparkle at all. It did block a bit more of the stone than a 4 or 6 prong setting would. It looks so good though It probably won''t add to the size of you diamond if it''s a smaller size. As long as the diamond is a great cut the sparkle will all be there.

From what I've read here, in a well cut stone it shouldn't.

My e-ring is a semi-bezel and very, very sparkly

With a well-cut stone sparkle should come out of the top of the stone rather than the side and a bezel shouldn''t take away any sparkle. However, in a poorer-cut stone light may come out the sides and a bezel would cover this up.

I don''t think so at all. If anything my hubby and I think my stone sparkles more now that it has a bezel! The bezel seems to help reflect the light from the stone sometimes.

My stone is in a full bezel and I can''t look at it in direct sunlight because it''s blinding. I''m not even exaggerating. But it''s an ideal cut stone so that may be why.

Yes, the diamond would be an ideal cut diamond, so cut/quality wouldn''t be an issue. Good to know that a bezel wouldn''t disrupt any fire/sparkle!

Thanks, Marcy! I''m not sure I''ll go half bezel (a la Etoile), since I''m almost positive I''m going to buy princess cut diamond from WhiteFlash. But the Etoile has caught my eye and I love how low set it is! so now I''m seriously contemplating that one instead

EMP- I *loved* my round (it's on Pearlman's now) but I should have gotten a princess cut to replace my old princess cut e-ring (which had chipped)! Rounds are beautiful but princess cuts look best on my hand, my wedding ring is half channel princess, and they are my favorite shape!

ETA: The only reason I'm considering a round is simply because of the etoile setting that WF has. And if I do go for that setting, the diamond would be much smaller than the 1.3 that I had!

I just want to go back to a princess cut, and DH and I agreed that that would happen once my 1.33 round sold. Pearlman''s is the best way to go for that sort of thing...so once that gets sold, then I can purchase a new princess cut e-ring. I should have gotten a princess cut when my old one chipped and thanffully, DH is 100% fine with me getting a new princess cut e-ring, as long as the round is sold first.

TDM- I know, I thought about that but I think to do an etoile style setting on a 1.33 round would be like, 7mm? That''s way to thick for me

So I''ve put Shimmer''s amazing WF half eternity bezel ring on my to-get list from DH!
