I was wondering what holds the diamonds in place or do they move about in the setting?

You''d think they''d move, wouldn''t you? They don''t seem too though. Maybe sort of a notch for the diamond to sit in?

I can see that they sort of slide into the notch ... but I wonder if anything stops them from moving in the channel.

So are the diamonds placed into the groove then the sides pushed over... a bit like prongs?

properly done there is either a dimple made over each stone to hold it in place or the side of the channel is pressed in or a lip is pushed down on the diamond.
They shouldn't slide.

If the setting is made well they should not...otherwise it is possible yes.
