I recently got a sapphire from Simply Sapphires and it''s a nice color blue in outdoor light but in indoor light it looks purple-ish. Do most of them do this? Seller said it had no purple/violet tones in it and describes it as a vivid sky blue.

Thanks.

I think a lot of bad indoor lighting does make sapphires look a bit more purple IMO.

Thanks Neat. I really didn''t want any purple in this one as I already have a violet sapphire. I do hope I can attribute it to the lighting. I''ve only had it a few days and haven''t had much time to play with it and figure it out yet. Thanks, again.

Sounds like it has a slight color change component to it. Did you see the other thread on purple sapphires in PS right here in this forum today? I personally love a little purple in a sapphire, but I know some people want a pure spectral blue. Which sapphire did you get? Do you have the vendor photo?

Thanks Tourmaline. I was thinking the color change thing, also, TL. I really did want a spectral blue, as I have a really violet sapphire already and wanted to go the other way. Oh well. I guess I should have asked if it is a color change.

That''s a pretty sapphire, and it looks well cut.

Thanks ! Not quite a Dan Stair/BB/Gemrite but it''s o.k. :)

I think it is quite lovely too. My sapphire has a touch of violet in indoor lighting. I don''t see it so much in outdoor lighting....just like yours.
