I bought a pendant for my Mom but she decided that she would prefer a ring, so DK is making a ring based on the pendant and the pendant will be returned. I think that the center diamond is going to be set lower than shown in the CAD.

Does anyone have any feedback? Would it look better with milgraining around the head?

I actually like the height as it is, 7mm is ok for me but for some people it's too high. I think you could go with some milgraining, I think it would add a nice touch. The only time I would be careful with extra detail like milgraining is where there is a large centre stone that you want to be the main focus but will lots of smaller stones I think adding milgrain would be nice. Just my opinion :-)

What a sweet gift. I'm not sure of your mom's style or her other jewelry, so take this all with that in mind.
1) I would add a row of tiny melee and tilt them at 20 degrees, adding a bitty halo. Right now, the setting has a visible solid metal rim from the side. I think adding that bitty halo would make the ring have more sparkle from the side.
2) The shank is very plain. Would you mom like the shank to have a bit more style? You could add a a tri-wire or a leaf design on the shank akin to the gallery?

Edited to add. I found this picture that I like. The basket petals arc up to the edge of the metal rim rather than hide only underneath.

Thand you so much for your detailed suggestions, @rockysalamander. :appl:You've given me a lot to think about! I did wonder about the plain edge around the diamonds. I have never designed a ring before so this is all new to me.
