Hey everybody! I''m starting to play around with my DIY invites and I''ve made some pretty good progress. I''ve designed the text and I made a sample. Here''s my issue:

I''m printing the text part on this pearlescent/shimmery ivory paper. It comes out looking amazing and I really don''t want to change the kind of paper...however, the ink smudges a TON! I''m not sure how to remedy this. Do they sell non-smudge ink for printers? Am I going to have to have them printed on a color copier?

Did anybody else run into this problem? Any advice would be SO awesome! Thanks!

Laser printer...

Your paper probably has a coating on it and water-based ink is not able to soak in and adhere to the paper. A commercial printer could solve the problem but if you are doing this at home with a regular ink-jet printer there is nothing you can do other than change paper.

Neatfreak, thanks for the reply!

I would guess my best bet would maybe be a copy store.

Swingirl - Thanks so much. I was afraid of that. Well, it still might be worth it to keep the paper I like.

Here''s my first attempt at making a sample. The colors are a little off because my camera is reaching dinosaur age and the lighting was "eh" but you can get an idea of what I''m thinking so far. You can see on the bird with the green wing that the ink is running.

Ditto NF! You can''t use inkjets for just about any type of fancy paper - we went to DF work to print them shhhhh!

What blows my mind is that PSers know this! Yet, I just paid $20 for wedding invite samples to be delivered and they arrived looked all smudged. Gorgeous shimmer paper with frangipani theme (very simple and classy for our themed wedding.) Anyway, I wet the tip of my finger and passed it over the invites and was horrified to see the text rub off!! Yep, on $20 invites!!!!!!! WTF! I rang them to complain and she said well of course it will smudge, it''s inkjet, we can''t laser on that partiular range. We are actually discontinuing that line for that reason

WHAT!! After you have charged me $20 for the freakin sample that is useless as the ink runs off and I wouldn''t be able to order anyway!!! I feel a Bridezilla moment coming on.....................
