I'm pretty sure I'm the reason it got shut down. I made a sarcastic post about why medicaid was on the chopping bloc, in response to @Rockdiamond 's, but I didn't mention names or parties. Sorry guys, this is why I should only post at my other place. See you later, maybe.
Ask admin. I’d be curious as to what you’ve outlined here.I made a sarcastic post about why medicaid was on the chopping bloc, in response to @Rockdiamond 's, but I didn't mention names or parties.
Folks, it's never just one person that gets a thread shut down. If it's one post, we remove it and if needed, talk to the user about it.
Then it's 5 posts, and even so, we usually remove them by hand, including replies to those posts. Then all of a sudden every other post is breaking the rules. Which means we have to monitor the thread consistently, taking me away from other work. That's when it gets shut down, when too many rules are broken by too many posters.
If you're honest with yourself, you probably know it when you see it. And you probably know it at the time when you post something that's rude or over the line. General nastiness in the thread definitely breaks regular PS rules, and is often a reason these threads get removed.
If you have a spidey sense that your post might have been over the line, it probably did contribute to the thread being shut down and if you want that to not happen in the future, walk away for a minute and rethink before you post something you know is over the line.
Please don’t leave @Demon. I sincerely doubt your post had anything to do with the thread being shut down.

I didn’t see your original post.
Comments about policies should be fair game.
With all due respect, Ella, some of these things are pretty subjective. Would someone think my post was rude? Maybe. Would the majority think the post was rude? I doubt it - it was a sarcastic response to another post, and it was not even directed to that person, other than I think they would have agreed with me. I'm not saying for sure it was my post that got that thread shut down, but the timing leads me to think so. I mentioned policy, not people or parties. I can't toe the line when I don't know exactly where it is.
Lol, I just can't. I sit on my hands for page after page, except for the like button, and when I do comment... You know where to find me, and you know who else is there. Stay here, but join us, also!
SO much so....and the real disappointment is in seeing how dug in people are.
We're not changing anything by discussing it, but it does feel good to air some of our fears. Then, the good feeling gets hit with reality —and another news story.
Then someone gets mad and purposely brings in topics that are not related, but heated enough to get the thread shut down.
Let's talk puppies and sparklies....while we're enjoying the tea and crumpets on the Titanic.
Again, it is never one post that gets a thread deleted.
It is usually a general evolution towards most posts breaking rules and the general vibe of the thread getting hostile. Rules about politics specifically or general PS rules about how to treat each other are usually both broken by multiple posters. Some things are hard to define, this is one of them. I think we can all feel when a thread starts feeling hostile instead of friendly, that's often when it gets shut down.
If someone posts something egregious, they will receive an email from us about it.
Maybe when someone sees a post that they think is over the line, they can tell the poster who then is free to edit it or remove it. That would need to be done pretty quickly, but it "may" help to keep things on track. Of course, you should be polite when pointing it out and not critical. Say something like "this may violate the rules so perhaps you could reword it to comply"? I'm just trying to think of a way to have these types of threads remain open as I do think hearing perspectives of others is important.
LOL Ella, you said ittoo many rules
