For a "typical" 1.5ct head on a ring, are there any guidelines for the min/max width of the stone, by cut, that is practical to set?

I can do the calculations myself based on a round to figure out, for example, what a square radiant or cushion cut should be to match that, however I''d like somebody with more professional experience to chime in.

So presuming a cushion or radiant cut, what would be the typical width ranges that can be set?

Thanks,
b

certain setting are only meant for some cuts, so it will be a case by case situation.

I think it would be best if you have a particular setting in mind, to check with the vendor concerning this, also fancy shapes are variable for face up size in some cases.

The setting is a square 4-prong originally created with a round in mind. I am presuming that a square radiant or cushion should be equally acceptable in such a setting....?

I agree a 6-prong would make it more challenging and things like heart/pear/oval would also present issues for this setting.

Thanks,
b
