Hello everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster.
I'm looking at making my engagement ring purchase with Dimend Scaasi and have been reviewing their loose diamond selection via their website. There are two stones I'm interested in seeing:
http://www.dimendscaasi.com/diamonds/diamondDetail.asp?stockNum=225619
http://www.dimendscaasi.com/diamonds/diamondDetail.asp?stockNum=143358
My understanding is that the diamonds DS lists are not in house. Does anyone then have an idea how a DS preferred cut diamond is determined since it would seem they haven't seen it? Is this diamond perhaps an exception and kept in house? Because from a numbers standpoint the cut of the second diamond looks better (Table,Depth in the 60-65%). I really want to get into DS to look at both stones side by side, but I'm not sure it will be possible. I always read on hear that numbers are more for eliminating bad stones than comparing the good. I will request IS and ASET for both diamonds but do you think DS's claiming one as preferred and the other not is a realistic indicator of the quality of each cut or more business related?
Thanks for your opinions.
