Just a quick question for you helpful experts out there :)

I''ve noticed on several diamonds that I am looking at that the AGS and SARIN report numbers defer slightly. This is especially noticeable when it comes to Depth & Table Percentage measurements.

Was just wondering what could be causing the discrepency since it appears that it is not due to rounding. Which report is generally more accurate?

Thank You,
Stephen

measurement error... ever wondered why no confidence interval is given with Sarin (or any other) diamond measurements?

Are they vastly different? (e.g. HCA scores 1 and 5 or something like that)? Seriously, if neither report sucks, get to see the stone (Ideal Scope?) - neither of the two measurements could be that precise, and both are good enough for a rough guess to begin with.

With all the debate between 40.6 and 40.8 pavilion numbers around here, you''d think such differences can actually be acurately measured. Well, guess again.

Just IMO.

When I last knew, Sarin reported potential error of up to +/- .2 angular and 2% linear. Most reports are close to or on the AGS numbers. When there is a discrepancy the lab grading report is considered the document of authority.
