Difference in .12 carat''s

I am looking at diamonds somewhere between .5-.75 carats. What is the difference in size between a .62 and a .5? Will I even notice the difference? I''ve looked at B&M but I''ve seen almost all diamonds that were .5 or .75, not anything in between. On the internet I''ve seen .52 or .63. Just looking for what the difference is. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I have too many opinions today.

Yes, it is noticeable. It''s an increase of 20% surface area , if my math is right (computer calculator.) .5 cts on me looks cute; .6 ish is objectively not too big and not too small, but I wish it were a little more; .75 is juuust right. Heh. In more than about 1 ct or 1.25 cts, you will not miss those 12 points as readily.

Yes, I think there will be a visual difference between a .5 and a .62.

If it were between a 2.0 and a 2.12 however, I doubt there would be much of a visual difference.

The smaller the stone, the more you will notice the difference. Here''s an example of a .70 stone next to a .81 as an example. To me, the .80 is noticably larger, so I''d think .50 vs. .62 would be even more apparent.

it really depends on the measurements. you would have to know what the diameter is to tell how much of a difference there will be face up.

the difference between the two is .5mm each way (Width and Length) and .3 in depth.

Don''t include the depth because that''s a factor that won''t affect the face-up size. What do you mean .5 each way? Do you have actual stone measurements that you can give us?

sorry one is 4.28 x 4.31 millimeters the other is 4.77 x 4.84 milimeters.

Oh yes, you will see a difference in those sizes.

You sure will. The two I posted are about 5.7 and 5.95 mm... less difference in size than the two you''re talking about and you can still see the difference!

Well, at least in magnified pictures it is! I''d hate to be responsible for making your husband unhappy! I had the picture taken because I was trying to decide on a size for diamond studs!

What shape? 25% difference.

They are round diamonds.

a .5 will be about 5, 5.1 mm. a .6+ will be roughly 5.4 mm. 4.3mm corresponds to roughly .3 cts, well cut of course.

Well then, that must be a well cut diamond. I checked after you said that and it is a .3 diamond. I''ll look for the one I was looking at, but I got a good idea of what the difference will be like.

.5 mm can be a lot! I know it seems so small, but that''s a lot of area!
