Ok, I am a little confused by ring terminology sometimes. What is the difference betweeen a ''gallery'' and a ''basket''???????
I think I know what a basket is, but not the gallery.
Generally, everything beneath the diamond is considered the gallery when it’s more than a simple head: A Tiffany ring that has prongs sticking up from one point is an example of a simple head.
A basket is one type of gallery: For instance, 4 prongs with a crossbar connecting each prong for security. It’s called a basket because it looks like a basket.
The gallery can be that simple or much more complex. It’s anything between the shank of the ring and the diamond, and can include a basket.
