As a diamond newbie I've been trying to find the difference between 'Fire' and 'Brilliance'. I've seen many references but no clear definition. Can anyone explain the difference? I think fire is the rainbow colours and brilliance is the white flashes when the stone moves but I'm kind of unsure.
Thanks.

The definitions there are unusual.
GIA has changed its definitions 3 times in the past few years.

Some of mine are at www.diamond-cut.com.au

Brilliance is white light return in a static view, fire is the same but colored and scintillation is the sparkle when diamond or light is moving.
But that is the simplified version.
