DH said I don't have to wait for anniv, to get my anniv ring...hehe valentine around the corner. So looking at getting a nice micro pave diamond band.. Staying with the Ritani Theme I saw something I liked for $1480 , I liked the fact that they alloy with Palladium plus having now purchased from Ritani I know what the quality of their rings look like ...But the ring below is a little pricey I think..

Here it is: http://www.ritani.com/wedding-rings/women-s-micropave-diamond-wedding-band-in-18kt-white-gold/11112

So also checked out one ring at Whiteflash which looks just as nice but they alloy with Nickle , plus not sure what quality of their rings are like
Here it is: http://www.whiteflash.com/wedding-bands/allegro-in-d-diamond-wedding-band-409.htm

It will cost me if I purchase from Wflash and dont like it as I have to pay to return the ring plus they charge me the original shipping cost before refunding me , so I need to be sure before buying from them..

Other than someone who may be allergic to nickle ( i dont think I am) is there any other major difference in say LOOKS, WEAR & TEAR DURABILITY etc between buying an 18K white gold ring with Nickel Alloy vs ring made with Palladium Alloy... Which would you pick..?? Would love to hear your thoughts on this one as you were all so helpful on my last purchase which I ended up loving immensely....

Even if you are not allergic to nickle rubbing it against your finger for a few years is a good way to become allergic. It's actually banned from jewelry in the European Union. So I would go for the palladium no matter what.

Nickle can cause sensitivity in folks not already known to be allergic. But the difference beyond that is in the color of the finished product. Nickel mixed with gold to create white gold leaves a pale creamy yellow that requires plating for a true white finish. Nickel mixed with palladium creates a grayer white gold that won't require plating, and unless you're allergic to gold, or have a REALLY uncommon issue with platinum family metals, it's significantly more hypoallergenic.

Thanks Guys for your comments.. I just searched ( should have done that before posting) and realized that there are quite a few threads on this same topic.. So decided to stick witht he Palladium alloy/WG it might be a little more expensive but worth it overall..

what does palladium white gold look like after worn for a while. supposedly it doesnt tarnish but that is not my experience.

Hello, I had a ring made of palladium.. first thing is that it's lighter weight than gold or platinum (I actually had a ring made just like the Ritani but it was some old princess little stones from my old engagement ring setting).. it is greyer than white gold, but it never get's the yellow look of white gold, it scratches more than gold or seems so to me.. I have a nickle allergy and have worn regular white gold for 40 years and never had a reaction, but have in earrings.. I like both.. I'm not sure how a mixture of palladium and gold will look but I would guess as it ages it will be less gold looking. Palladium is very grey silver looking after a few years.. I have to say both of your rings are stunning, and I'd like them both :)

Well I just upgraded my wedding set to a Ritani bridal set 18K only had it under a month , so cant contribute much to how it looks after some time , before that all my other pieces were yellow gold... But from what I have been reading it seems that the 18K with palladium holds up much better that the 14k with palladium in looks over time and definitely holds up better than WG with nickel alloy...

Any WG with Nickel alloy wearers out there that can provide more comments
