Don't be absurd, nearly the entire 9/11 scheme was devised and carried out under the Clinton Presidency. The attack itself was, what, 8 months into Bush's first term?

It's Americans they hate, not just the current or past President.

It is American policy that they hate, not American people.

They hate Western Society. Period. And they see America as the embodiment of all that is wrong.

When they flew airplanes into the twin towers, they were not attacking 'policy'. They were attacking people, private enterprise, and a Western way of life.
To a degree, yes. But like most things, in spite of how simple black and white we'd all like to make it, their attitudes towards us are more complex than "They hate western society. Period.". Our refusal to understand or acknowledge our part in the roots of their anger, is part of the continuing problem. And NO, that is NOT my giving them a pass on bombing us, just in case anyone wants to try to go there, or to imply that that is what I am saying. What I'm saying is people don't HATE for no reason. I may not AGREE with their reasons, but people don't just wake up one day and say, "Gee, I think I'll hate all of western culture", or "Wow. I just realized I hate all Chinese". There IS a reason. We just don't want to hear it. Far easier to cast them all as crazy hate-filled monsters, than to listen..

Well if one of the top ranking Al Qaida officials is any indication.....

Al-Zawahri said Obama's election has not changed American policies he said are aimed at oppressing Muslims and others.

"America has put on a new face, but its heart full of hate, mind drowning in greed, and spirit which spreads evil, murder, repression and despotism continue to be the same as always," the deputy of al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden said.

He said Obama's plan to shift troops to Afghanistan is doomed to failure, because Afghans will resist.

"Be aware that the dogs of Afghanistan have found the flesh of your soldiers to be delicious, so send thousands after thousands to them," he said.

Does the term " Blowback " have any meaning for those that think " they " hate us just because of were we live ? The man currently in the White house has done untold damage to our image around the world. Thank you George !

no matter how much you hate Bush he kept America safe for 7 yrs.

The absence of an attack does not mean that a person (or his policies) are the cause of it not happening. And what is "safe" anway? Getting 5K soldiers killed abroad? Stripping millions of people of their economic safety and putting their health at risk? Oh, how simple the world is. For or against us. You betcha.

Lol, agreed. I know I felt decidedly LESS safe under Bush when peaceful protests by citizens were being monitored by TANKS! In Los Angeles! When the country is one step from a police state, my phone is tapped, and if I get charged with terrorism they can hold me without cause for an indefinite amount of time, I don''t feel safe. Not now, not ever. And it does not make me feel safe to think that our politicians are too cowardly to prosecute those who have abused power, and that our outgoing president might used the power of the pardon to protect his criminal henchmen.

What most repubs conveniently forget is the huge inflation causing deficit Reagan left Carter with.
