To a degree, yes. But like most things, in spite of how simple black and white we'd all like to make it, their attitudes towards us are more complex than "They hate western society. Period.". Our refusal to understand or acknowledge our part in the roots of their anger, is part of the continuing problem. And NO, that is NOT my giving them a pass on bombing us, just in case anyone wants to try to go there, or to imply that that is what I am saying. What I'm saying is people don't HATE for no reason. I may not AGREE with their reasons, but people don't just wake up one day and say, "Gee, I think I'll hate all of western culture", or "Wow. I just realized I hate all Chinese". There IS a reason. We just don't want to hear it. Far easier to cast them all as crazy hate-filled monsters, than to listen..Date: 11/19/2008 5:41:39 PM

Don't be absurd, nearly the entire 9/11 scheme was devised and carried out under the Clinton Presidency. The attack itself was, what, 8 months into Bush's first term?
It's Americans they hate, not just the current or past President.
It is American policy that they hate, not American people.
They hate Western Society. Period. And they see America as the embodiment of all that is wrong.
When they flew airplanes into the twin towers, they were not attacking 'policy'. They were attacking people, private enterprise, and a Western way of life.
