Have you sold your fancy to get a better perfoming (more brilliance, fire & scint) round?

Are you glad you did it or not?

---

(I just did this but am not sure if I did the right thing.)

Thanks.

Yes, I ended up doing this when my setting needed to be replaced. I only went a tiny bit larger, I mostly did it to get better light performance. I was sold on rounds after getting really well-cut rounds in my wedding band. My old stone was a radiant and I still prefer more rectangular shapes...but the difference in light performance is very noticeable to the eye. So far I am very happy with the round and love how it sparkles like crazy. Only time will tell if I will regret it in the future.

I upgraded in the spring of 2006 to a 1/2 ct heart diamond that I wore with a 1/2 ct. eternity band. I quickly found I was very unhappy with it''s performance. The small RB in the eternity band outperformed my solitaire hands down. I thought of trying to get a "better" heart diamond but after doing research I realized if I want the best performance from my diamond I would have to get a RB. I bought an ideal cut RB in June of 2006 and love it.

I did keep my heart diamond. I bought an enhancer and wear it as a RHR.

Have you considered a square H & A? It sounds like they may perform like rounds but they still have a square shape.

I have a fancy (cushion) and I don''t think I''d ever trade it for an RB, but that is just my own personal preference.

I actually traded my RB for a Radiant. Never regretted that decision. My sis has a 1.02 RB G VS2 GIA cert. and it doesn''t begin to come close to the fire and sparkle of my radiant. My original RB was the same way. Everyone has their preferences. I realize rounds face up larger, and therefore are attractive to most people, but I will never go back. Just my personal preference! Be happy with what YOU have and what YOU like. Thats all that matters in the end.

No. I went from one fancy [princess] to a larger fancy [radiant].

Thanks for asking this question. This is something I''ve been thinking about. I never cared for RB''s except in
smaller stones in a setting. Then after finding and being totally addicted to PS for the past few years, my love of EC''s and Cushions has faded as I have learned about light return and performance. I have a WF ACA in a pendant and even when it is dirty, that stone still dances like crazy. But I never thought I would come around to wanting a large RB. Even Brian at WF
tried to convince me I''d want one after I tried on the sparklies in his office. At that time, I still didn''t want a large
RB. But now, well, yeah, I''m coming around !!! Maybe. ha, ha I''m going to be reading this thread with interest.

I did!

I had what we thought was a Princess, but every jeweler that saw it in the last 2 years or so would comment on my ''radiant''.
LOL!

We upgraded from a 1.3 radiant to a 3.67 RB and I haven''t regretted it for a moment

I bet !

But I never thought I would come around to wanting a large RB.>

Same here. I used to think "how boring" regarding rounds but actually my former, dead fancy cut was what was boring. (No offense to anyone with a great fancy, mine was not.)

But now, well, yeah, I''m coming around !!! >

I guess it''s in the learning process. I try to think of my new round as "pond" shaped. It helps jazz it up a bit in my mind.

Not exactly....BUT I did trade in a poor performing RB for a branded H&A RB, after seeing the difference in light return of the H&A.

My original e-ring, which I still wear, is a pear and I will never trade it in...I love it and I am very sentimental (hubby picked it out all by himself), but I did opt for a RB three stone ring for my tenth anniversary ring, which sparkles like mad!
