Another Harry Potter fiend here....my husband bought me the whole series for Christmas 2009 (I had never read them before this, nor seen any of the movies), and I became HOOKED! I''m now rereading the series for the third time. I just can''t seem to say goodbye to the characters. Pathetic!
I just read them all this past winter and I LOVE THEM!

I really wish I had gotten into them when they were being published, and I DEFINITELY mourned when I finished the last book. Now I''m rereading them with my niece and nephew; our goal is to finish reading them by November in time for the next movie to come out.

When I was in 6th grade, I read Gone With the Wind, and was SO sad to see it end that I sat down and wrote a few more chapters of my own, with things going the way I wanted them to!!!
In my version, Scarlett changed her selfish ways, ended up with Rhett (of course!), they had several more kids and lived happily ever after!

I loved reading Stephen King''s The Stand. It is the only book I have ever read (and I read every day) that has moved me to cry reading it. It is so many years later and I still think I will never read a book as wonderful as that. I feel like finishing that book was a loss to me, beautiful but sad.
This is my favourite book of all time I think. I''ve read it many times. I like to wallow in it. sigh
Don''t like his work but know the story. If a superflu hit, my whole family actually would go to Boulder as my dad has a cabin there and it really is an amazing place. My husband and I always make apocalyse plans and when we lived in CO Springs, where NORAD is, we always planned on getting to Boulder. The building where my dept is located is one of those bomb shelter looking buildings and we are so breaking into my old office if there is a zombie attack. Always be prepared.

To answer the original question, it happens to me all the time. I''d read a book in one sitting, often staying awake up till 3-4 am to finish it, and when I have, say, 10 pages left, I start reading reaaally slowly and it takes me another hour to finish it, just because I don''t want it to end.

I can so imagine you as adorable youngsters sitting down to write a better ending...

Awhhhhhhhh!

Yes. I was so mesmerized the first time I ever read "Alive" by Piers Paul Read, about the Uruguayan rugby team''s plane crash in the Andes. I couldn''t put it down and was sad when it ended.

Haven-that''s so nice...I hope to read them with my kids someday too!

The one book that I really mourned at finishing was Stephen King "The Green Mile". I adore that book and think it''s one of my favourite of all time.

I definitely have.

Harry Potter, Belgariad and Mallorean, any series that aren''t completed yet and I have to wait and wait until the next book (ahem, George R.R. Martin''s books...), Pillars of the Earth, The Brother Cadfael series, and there are many more.

I get really invested in the characters of books I like, and it''s worse with series. I think that''s why I reread so much. I know the story and what will happen but I like immersing myself back in that world.
