Did we buy a good stone?

Hi everyone,

I love PS, unfortunately, I found this forum after my fiancé bought my diamond. Now, after spending days reading the forums, I am worried that we didn''t get a good one. Mostly, my concern lies with the cut of our diamond, which is GIA Very Good. When choosing our stone, we didn''t know that cut is pretty much the most important aspect (judging by the posts I read here). We did not see the diamond before purchasing (was purchased for us through a dealer in NYC), but we should receive it, set in my custom-designed engagement ring, sometime next week.

Here are the stats for the diamond. In your opinion, is this going to be a beautiful stone, or did we buy a dud?

Hi Saphirina

I very much doubt its a dud! It looks like a nice make for cut, can''t tell that much about it without images as you might be aware, but it could be a good looking diamond with a good spread for the size and it could show possibly enhanced brilliance due to the slightly shallow crown angle. Is there any chance the seller could provide an Idealscope image for you? That would tell us more about this stone.

Thank you for replying, Lorelei and Stone-cold11. I will ask about a picture. The jeweler who is making my setting (he is a family friend) has the diamond right now and said many times that it''s very beautiful and that I won''t be disappointed, but the "Very Good" cut bit is making me paranoid, as you can see!

Also, we paid 15K for that stone. Would you say that''s a fair price?
