Hello all!

Like many on here, doing my first (and hopefully only) obligatory diamond hunt on the path to engagement. I narrowed it down to this stone:

Diamond:
https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD00083183

Setting: With this petite setting BUT in 4 prongs instead of 6 as linked:
https://www.bluenile.com/build-your...old_48876?elem=img&track=product&vtype=sample

Keep in mind, this is going on a skinny 4.25 finger. My concerns:

1. Is the stone justified in its cost? I was focused on getting brilliance, proportion, and virtually colorless.
2. I've received results on hearing that 1.51ct might be TOO big for her finger. I understand its all really a matter of preference, but I'd like to hear a little bit of what you folks think overall.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!

Well, someone certainly did their homework, you picked a gorgeous stone by the look of it, well done! the proportions appear to all work well together, colour and clarity specs are super, I think you've ticked all your boxes thoroughly.

It will be a lovely size, diamonds DO shrink and 1.5 is the perfect size I think, not too big but just right. The setting is also beautiful, I think you're there and the others will be along presently and I'm sure will tell you the same.

Thank you for the breath of confidence! Really does wonders when I'm in a market I don't feel super knowledgeable in. :mrgreen2:

I'm glad, you hit a home run there for sure, the ring is going to be superb!

Beautiful!

Size is subjective. My ering is about 1.5 carats or so on a size 4 finger and I rarely wear it because I I think it’s too much stone for everyday. BUT - I’m in the minority so take that for what it’s worth. When we were engaged, I wore it but after marriage 10 years ago, I stopped and now only wear it once in a while. So it’s totally up to what your intended is comfortable with. Most people think I’m crazy for feeling like I do. :P2

It is a beautiful diamond! And 1.5 carats is a great size, not too little, not too big...just right.

Thank you all for the feedback! Definitely helped calm my indecisiveness as to whether this was the right one or not. Thanks again!!
