Did I choose the right diamond?

Hi everyone,
My partner and I recently purchased an engagement ring from Jannpaul and just wanted to get some opinions on whether we chose the right diamond for its price? They quoted $4500SGD for this 1.64ct F, IF.

This is the GCAL cert:

Is there anything unusual or undesirable about it? I noticed the scintillation is not as bright as some other octagon novas, and very slightly asymmetrical. Are the angles ok? Would it be better if we made a preorder and wait 4-5 months?
At this stage we are now waiting for the render. Appreciate if anyone can share their experience or thoughts.

I just got the renders! So far I really like how it turned out.

My only concern is that the band is a 1.4mm to 2.4mm taper, is 1.4mm wide enough to support the diamonds?

I'm also undecided on the 4 melee diamonds on the outside of the band, will they weaken the structure significantly?

It's a platinum setting and my finger size is about a US 6.5-6.75.

Yes, it's a taper, but you also have cathedral support. I think it will be fine.

As for the melee, I have a JP band with melee like that. Don't worry at all. JP bands are hefty. They are hand forged, and you can feel it. There is depth to the bands, and the melee doesn't feel like it affects the structural integrity at all.

Ask for a video of the creation of your ring. It's free, but it adds time to your order. But it's so great to have as a keepsake.

And we'd love to see IRL photos when you get it!

I think when it comes to these type of things we have to choose vendors that we trust to make high-quality rings. What I’ve heard about JP is that they do make high-quality pieces. We haven’t seen a lot of people coming back to complain. So really it comes down to aesthetics and whether you like that.
