Diavik second Canadian diamond mine above the Arctic Circle in the Northwest Territories has been formally opened Saturday. It will produce a maximum of six million carats a year, or about five per cent of the world''s supply.

Other projects are being developed, and the hunt is on all over Canada, including Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.

I'll sit in my heated tent, sipping hot chocolate, waiting for the two of you to lay diamonds at my feet.

Well, Leonid, I hope you really like hiking and camping, then. Because the two guys who found the Lac de Gras kimberlite field (which is where Ekati and Diavik are located) only spent, oh, about ten years wandering around the Canadian Artic before finding a single diamond.

Well Leonid...

As my mother use to say when ever I threatened to take a walk... "...I'll pack you a lunch!". How about a nice balogna sandwich? Hey, did you see the special on cable about these two crews searching for these fields / mines?
