Hello everyone! Like many others, this is my first post, but I've been researching here for several months now! I've already bought a setting, which had a princess cut diamond in it but which I had removed becasue it was an EGL graded lackluster stone. Now I'm on the hunt for a great stone. I've had the setting appraised, and my appraiser told me that the perfect sized stone for my setting would be about 5.8 by 5.6 by 3.9. I'm a bit flexible on measurements, but I want it to be around 1ct. He also told me that with princess cuts I don't need to be too concerned (as opposed to round brilliant) with super high clarity grades. I'm flexible on most of the criteria. I've been looking at mostly 1ct with G-I color, no-faint flouro, VVS1 to VS2 clarity, and VG to Ex cut. I would like to stay within the table and depth parameters that make an excellent princess. Obviously before I commit I would ask for an Idealscope image and an ASET scan... I want a beautiful stone, but would like to keep the purchase price under $5k...so no Solasfera, Jubilee, etc cuts for me. Through all the online retialers, I've found diamondsonweb.com to be the most moderately priced. Their return policy, trade up policy, are all in line, but I searched this forum and couldn't find much recent feedback on them. Any thoughts would be much appreciated, and I'll also list some of my options below. Thanks for looking and any and all help/guidance you can provide!

Hi and welcome! I would strongly suggest buying from a site that provides images as the appearance of princess cuts can vary widely. Also you may be able to find an eye-clean SI1 with no visible inclusions.

Here are some examples of online diamonds that come with pictures

Thanks for looking and thanks for the helpful reply slg! The funny thing is, is that I combed over both of those websites and couldn't find anythign that was relatively close to what I was looking for (regarding price and all other criteria). It's amazing what a fresh set of eyes will do for you! Thanks so much for the help, I will take a hard look at those links. ANy preference in vendor btw? I know they're both reputable, but some are higher on one than another. Again, thanks so much for the help (makes me feel like I'm not so alone in this slightly overwhelming process!)!

All 3 diamonds are worth looking into, but the one from WF is a sure bet for a well-cut stone. It has the AGS0 cut grade and the ACA brand name. My princess is an ACA, and it's gorgeous, so I would choose Whiteflash. WF also has a more liberal upgrade policy than JA if that matters to you. But the JA ones are cheaper, so you would get a higher color for a similar price.

so is that popular opinion around here? should i go with an ACA and sacrifice a little bit of color and clarity? Or should i get an ideal cut from JA and upgrade a level in color, clarity, and save a few bucks? I guess what I'm asking is, is it really worth it for the ACA cut, or will the other diamonds of the 3 be too similar to the untrained eye to even notice the difference? Thanks again for the help everyone!

you could request an ASET image from JA to get more information about the diamonds.

they are on their way and should be here in 48-72 hours...so when i get those i should compare them to the ACA on whiteflash and go with the more appealing ASET? I guess if it returns a better image then my question will be answered about cut, huh? thanks for the help guys!

ps, this place is awesome! it's a treasure trove of info (no pun intended)!
