I am looking to replace the diamond in my wife''s engagement ring (she lost it)...I have heard of "Dirt Cheap Diamonds"...can anyone recommend a good online dealer or have nay experieince with DIrt Cheap or anyone else. Or if anyone knows of a good diamond dealer in the Bay Area, please let me know.

WhiteFlash was also highly recommended.

I just bought a beautiful diamond from niceice.com. They were absolutely fantastic to deal with. They maintain their an inventory so you are actually buying a stone they have in their possesion. And best of all, no sales tax!

Being in their region, I have seen a couple beautiful diamonds purchased (at very fair prices) from Dirt Cheap.

Good Old Gold also comes highly recommended by this forum.

there are many diamond seller companies out there, you just have to shop and compare, many of these companies have the same stones ,and the only difference is the price and customer service. of course you have to take into considaration the fact that if you are not in the same state ,it would save you on sales tax.

good luck!!

I think there are a number of reputable internet vendors for diamonds. There are lots of testimonials that you can read by searchingon the various names, and using the Pricescope search engine to do some searches on stones can give you a good start.

Some vendors hold their own inventory. Some "drop-ship" stones from their sources and are more brokers inthe process. Both work fine if you do your homework, have an independent appraiser give you their opinion, and preferably don't pay for it until you've had it appraised and accepted. (Although some vendors will insist you pay up front if they are shipping the stone to you. I'd make sure you get quality references on them before doing it. Others will ship it to an appraiser for evaluation. THe appraiser will release it to you when the vendor give the go-ahead. )

Good luck! This can be fun
