I am new to this whole diamond thing. I am basically looking for a pretty, sparkly diamond that I cannot see any inclusions. Can anyone give me some advice on what to look for in terms of the 4 Cs? Is there a certain color I shouldn''t go beyond? How about clarity? I am thinking that a carat will be more than enough for my size 4.5 finger. I would like to spend about $5500. I am trying to get the most band for my buck :) Thanks for all the help!

Welcome to diamond purchasing. I am not an expert but I don''t do bad picking out things for myself. Cut is king around Pricescope. You want an ideal cut diamond - the cut is what makes the diamond come alive. Color is subjective. I like colorless but many on here will go to a J or K in color to get a larger diamond. Ideal cut diamonds will face up whiter than other diamonds. Clarity preferences generally run as long as it is eye clean; as long as it is eye clean it is okay. A nice sweet spot is a G or H SI1 that is eye clean. What shape are you looking to buy?

So cut is the most important aspect of how much a diamond sparkles? I am thinking a round cut because I am hoping for the Tacori 2620, but if I go with a solitare I would also love a cushion. Does the shape also affect the sparkle quality?

Cushions are lovely but in my humble opinion an ideal cut round brilliant will give you the most bang for the buck. A well cut cushion will be dynamite as well.

I think a round brilliant is considered to be the most "sparkly" but the different cuts have different looks to them...

Good Old Gold has a lot of really good videos comparing different cuts, this could help you decide, or you could go to a store and look in person

Also I think I have seen some of your other posts (I spend way too much time on this site...) if you have your heart set on the Tacori you should just tell your bf :) But you might want to check it out in person to make sure that it''s the one!

Haha I spend way too much time on this site too! I have actually tried on the Tacori and am definitely in love with it. But I am trying to keep my options open on case the BF goes ina different direction. Thanks for your advice on the videos! I will go take a look at them!
