diamonds clarity question

hi all.
i am new here and I've bought a diamond and i think It's not the diamond i have paid for.
it should be VS2 and there is a big visible white defect inside it.
please look at the picture and tell me if there is any chance this diamond could be a VS2 diamond.

it's a 0.72, D colored diamond.

Is it visible to the naked eye ? Where did you buy it ? Did it come with a grading report from GIA or AGS?

This Image seems Magnified, is it possible for you to post regular Image? VS2 stone cannot be inclusion free
however IMO inclusion should not be visible to naked eye, is the inclusion visible to naked eye? is the stone certified
by GIA? as GIA standards of grading are accurate compare to other labs.

VS2 actually isn't always eye clean. You also have this diamond's photo blown up a bajillion times it's size!

actually this white spot is visible to the naked eye even from about 40 cm away, but i could see it only after i knew where it is exactly.

if i light a LED light on it it really really visible.
i will upload another picture later this day without any magnification.

If it isn't certified, then chances are it isn't a VS2. The seller can claim whatever they want on it! We can't really give you much advice here other than telling you that a VS2 is USUALLY eye clean, but can not be as well. You should probably get it appraised asap by an independent appraiser. Is there any way you can return it and start fresh? And buy a GIA or AGS graded diamond?

I would return it , and buy a certified diamond. Chances are you've bought the diamond with the seller giving false specs.. It's happened to me before too, and the diamond I bought was not worth any where near the so called bargain price I paid for it

If the option is available and you are not satisfied with the stone then I would return it. Sadly this isnt a problem specific to diamonds without lab reports. There are many many made up labs (anyone can grade a diamond) giving bogus grading information and even some very well known labs such as EGL that inflate grades. The only way to be confident in the grading of a stone is to purchase it with a report from GIA or AGS.

It would definitely not get a VS2 from GIA or AGS. It also looks like it could be shallow bordering on a fish eye.

Not being a VS2 is the least of this diamond's problems. It is also pretty ugly because of excessively poor cutting. If they will not take it back, and they put the grade in writing, let them know you will be getting a GIA report on the diamond and taking it to your local television station for airing on one of their xyz station on your side reports and then to the attorney general to report the fraud.

If they will take it back, grab your money and run to someplace that practices at least a modicum of professional ethics.

Just my opinion of course, but if that stone is as ugly in real life as it is in your photos you do NOT want to spend a lot of time with it.

P.S. To answer your original question, I think a snowball in a hot place has a better chance than this diamond of getting a grade of VS2 or even SI1 from GIA

I would return the stone back if I have the option and look for GIA certified stone instead which guarantees me 100% eye clean. The
Stones which are not certified, seller can say anything, he could have told you VS1 as well but who knows the real clarity, I would
prefer to buy certified stone even if that means it is costing me little bit more but I would have the assurance I am getting the right
quality stone that I am looking for.

I'd be willing to bet it's more visible in person than in those hand shots.

EGLI might call that a VS2, so it makes sense that someone from the Israel Diamond Exchange would tell you that.

EGL USA would probably grade it SI3

GIA/AGS would likely give it an I1.

If you can return it and start again, that is what I would do, as many others have suggested. Unfortunately, it seems most people buy a diamond with regard to only color and clarity and as you see, that's not necessarily reliable unless you are getting it from GIA or AGS. ALso, it's the cut proportions of a stone that give it sparkle more so than color or clarity and if you get a chance to look at this thread, there was never a better thread IMO that shows the difference in sparkle between a poorly cut stone and a well cut one.

The stone in the thread is the same stone and has some similar visual properties to yours in the before pics, but what a difference the new proportions make!
