Diamond studs?

I know everyone will want to see plenty of pictures! They are going to be so white!

Well, not sure what my next step is. I just can't seem to catch a break. I wanted a four prong platinum martini but according to WF ""Unfortunately, our search for a 4 prong martini in platinum has come up short. But, we do have access to 4 prong martini studs, with screwbacks, in 14K white gold or 3 prong martini in platinum". Problem is, I don't like the look of baskets or three prongs and will not compromise on platinum. What do I do now? And how could they not have access to such a common setting? Any ideas?

Custom? Sometimes it's just the only way to get exactly what you want, if your wants are very specific.

hmmmm............

wonder how much that would run? i will need to look into it and think :?

Bastetcat, one more time, thank u for your help. I found this. What do u think? Not too much to distract from the stones? http://www.whiteflash.com/diamond-earrings/6-prong-martini-earrings-2312.htm

Also, I have been reading and found some posts that say whiteflash is more expensive than others. Do u know if there is any truth to that?

And how safe is it to pay by wire vs a credit card? I am really nervous if anything goes wrong I won't be able to get the money back with a wire. Sorry, but it is a large purchase.

Thanks again

I am really sorry to hear that.
I think if you want to buy jewelry online, you should be very careful. Maybe you should buy something not too expensive at first and see how it goes. It goes well, then you can buy next one.

Asked and answered (by Bastecat): "BGD, Good Old Gold (GOG) and Whiteflash are NOT drop shippers like Blue Nile. They have their own, in house branded cuts. They are going to be more expensive than generic stones in virtual selection. They are also going to come with a boatload of performance information. They have special parameter which all the stones in the brand have to meet. You will have to decide whether it's worth it or not for those extra value adds and the "peace of mind" that comes with it. Can you find a nicely cut stone on your own? Yes, but it will take a lot of weeding out through crummy stones to do it. You have to do more than just say "I want F VS2 at xx carat weight." The proportions to which a stone is cut affect how well it performs and not all stones are equal. So one F VS2 .9ct stone is not necessarily just like another. The proportions matter."

Well, when u put it like that, it makes perfect sense. Thanks

I think the 6 prong setting is very pretty. I have an 8 prong setting for my studs and love the way 6 and 8 prong settings really 'round" out a stone.

I LOVE the 6 prong martinis...especially with studs the size you are considering!

As far a buying online, you don't have anything to worry about if you purchase from a well-respected PS vendor. I have worked with Whiteflash on several occasions and have been thrilled every time. When I was in Texas, I actually visited WF, and they are an incredible group of people. I have also purchased from Brian Gavin Diamonds a few times and have been happy there as well. I have heard of several complaints about the slow or lack of communication from them, but I personally have not had that issue.

I have purchased from WF twice and never had a problem with payment. They will give you top quality stones and service!

Ditto. I much prefer those 6-prong settings to 4-prong ones.

Did we go through this I am sorry why you have to do platinum for studs I know all my rings are platinum but it is softer so 18K or 14K more than sufficient for studs. My three prong martinis on my 2.41 studs are fabulous....sorry just my HO

do the 3 prong platinum if you really want platinum I hate the screw backs and as I said the 3 prongs are fabulous on my 2.41 studs I got in March.....and they are 14K..

Thank you all for your replies.

I prefer platnum. Just my preference. as to 3 prong vs. 6, again, personal preference, i don't like the triangular look 3 prongs create and prefer the rounded look of 6. was just worrying that it won't be to distracting. and the last one is screwbacks. i would not get anything else. i hate the push kind. have lost quite a few earrings and would not trust them. i do want srewbacks with a bigger part that is srewed on to balance the earring. my local store carries that part and i have 2 of them and really like the fact that they are easy to put on and hold the earring tight to the ear.

Heididdl, thanks for reminding me about screwbacks, i need to make sure they are.

i believe my mind is made up. i am still worried about wiring the money (considering my prior experience, hardly a surprise), but i hope you are all right and i will have no problems. will post when order. hoping this week.

Saphira. I'm with you on this. When I am looking for something like that, I expect a call back ASAP.
In this economy, what are they thinking. I would look around, learn more and go from there. I live in Orqnge county and get things quickly. If its going to be a few days my person keeps in constant contact with me on the situation. Good luck!

ordering this weekend

I bought my 6 prong martini studs from WF. You should not have any concerns about purchasing from them. They were fabulous to work with!

Ditto to what everyone else said. WF is top notch.

Your new earrings are lovely! More importantly, I'm glad that you're happy with them! Wear them in good health.

YAY! So glad it all worked out and they look wonderful! I hope you post some ear shots too!

And I like your avatar. Is your screen name after the dragon in the Paolini novel?

You were so right the setting is just perfect. Wear them for many healthy years to come

Thank u all. I am not that good with pictures but will try and post.

Bastetcat, yes!

What a beautiful set of studs Saphira, WOW! :o :o Everything came together wonderfully. Can you take some pics wearing them so we can see their real life sparkle! These are so pretty, thanks for sharing!! :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

Your studs are so beautiful! Please take ear shots and lots of other studs so we can admire them further. So glad it's all worked out for you!

Sorry about Blue Nile though. That IS disappointing. I'm a longtime customer of BN and must have bought, returned or swapped at least 40 items and it's always been great. I just upgraded my studs to 1.12 ctw Ds, and it was all good. That thing about not accepting credit cards, for your own protection? Whaaat? Admittedly I haven't done a 10k purchase from them, biggest is 3k, but still. BN is huge and generally very reputable - you'd think they'd be used to handling huge purchases. They sell diamonds!

Can't wait to see further shots! :appl:

ETA: What are the specs of the WF pair? Are they ACA?

I buy marrying.de and it was my best experience with them. They never had a problem with payment. They always provide you top quality diamond service to their customer.
