Hi everyone. I am looking for my first pair of diamond studs but have a pretty strict budget. The stones I am looking at are:

1) 1ct each, F, SI1, excellent cut, brilliant OR
2) 1.2ct each, G, SI1, excellent cut, brilliant

Should i give up 1 grade of color for a larger carat stones? Will I be able to tell the difference? Also, is there a difference between "excellent cut" and "ideal cut"? I have seen people advertise different cut names, even "Premiere cut" and it all gets confusing to me.

I plan on setting them in a platinum 3 prong claw martini setting (similar to Leon Mege''s).

I got my cushion cut e-ring set by Leon Mege and he did a fantastic job.

THANKS!!

Which lab graded the diamonds? Rounds, will need the table, depth, crown and pavilion angles as a first guess then IS image. Fancy cuts will need crown height and normal and ASET image to determine the cut performance.

Thanks! The stones are GIA graded. My jeweler hasn''t given me the rest of the specs yet, but I will ask him when I go in to see him. Will the table, crown, depth and pavillion be more important than a F vs G color? I want them as sparkly as possible :)

Yes, cut is more important, those 2 color grades almost no one can see the difference once mounted.

Are these round diamonds?
