Diamond Studs help

Hi -

I'm in the market for round diamond studs with a budget of $4,500. I have been researching cuts and quality and such and have been finding mixed information. Can someone please help me understand what color, clarity, cut are best for my budget? I would like a tcw of about 1.5 if possible set in 14k gold.

Also any suggestions on best place to purchase would be appreciated.
