i would like to find a pair of ideal or ags0 diamonds for earrings. i have searched on pricescope and on the vendor sites but i cant seem to find a pair. i would like 2 to 2.9 carats each. ideally say 2.5ish. i am looking for GH vs1/2/si1. is this really going to be that hard tofind? any suggestions? TIA

Are you sure you want them that large? Honestly, 1.5 cts. each is absolutely huge on an earlobe. But regardless, you just need to call WhiteFlash since they cut their own stones (and can access others) and see if they can match you up a pair.

you mean whiteflash can just cut you 2 , 2.5 carat G Vs 2 stones?

No - in case DS doesn't return for a while I will chime in to try to answer. It isn't as straightforward as that unfortunately. Large diamonds are scarce and highly desirable, depending on what rough material they have access to, being able to source or cut a large pair of this quality isn't a guaranteed thing. Especially if you want 2 2.5ct G VS, you may have to broaden your options for colour and clarity perhaps to make it easier to get a pair of well cut large diamonds. Best as DS says, tell WF what you are looking for and let them advise you as to the best way of obtaining a pair of suitable diamonds, and be prepared it might take some time.

Ditto.

And I also have to ask if you''re sure you want to go this large. Have you actually held a stone that size up to your ear?

most 2.5 caraters seem in the 8.5 to 9mm range --thats not so big?

Unless you have really large earlobes, that's pretty big. Even then it's big. lol

Again, if you haven't yet, hold a stone that diameter up to your ear, or cut a circle that size from a piece of paper and hold it up. I really recommend trying for the actual stone though.

bgray, it might be helpful you to visit the "show me your diamond studs" thread in "show me the ring" so you can see what different sizes look like.

Thank you Miss Lorelei for clarifying that for me!

How large a diamond ring do you wear? I suppose if you live in Beverly Hills and wear a 4-5 carat diamond ring, then 2 cts. on each ear might be in line. But as much as I hate to say it, I think super large studs are just plain tacky. I have seen some posted on this forum that were!

Honestly, yes, it''s going to be a bit more of a challenge to find. Larger goods aren''t in abundant supply these days, I''m afraid, nevermind getting two that reasonably match.

As others suggested, your best bet is to contact a vendor you''re comfortable with or would like to work with and have them go ''on the hunt'' for you.

As for size, yes, 2.5 cts would be quite big, but if you want them and can pull it off, go for it.

Hi bgray -- personally, a 2.5 ct stud would be way too big for me. I think a lot of it does have to do with ear size - I have smaller earlobes, this is what a .52 stud looks like on me. (Similar to what you are looking for - AGS0 cut, G/VS2) DH wants to get me bigger studs as a gift, I have already told him I think anything over about a 1-1.25 ct in each ear would not look good on me, it gets disproportionate and less attractive if it''s too big. I definitely suggest trying on first!

IMO, for earrings that is a size that might be hard to pull off tastefully unless you have huge earlobes. I just got a pair of 2.42 ctw studs, and I must say that although I love large stones I cannot imagine going any bigger than these (1.21 carats each).

I would definietly rock 2 to 2.5 carats each. I think they look lovely on, if I must say so. This is probably my ideal size.

..There are a few cases where some people''s ear lobes are on the smaller side or are pierced too low, and this size may not look right. Maybe I just have big earlobes...

Does anyone remember the gal that had the really big studs, like 3 or 3+ carats each?

No, I just looked her up. Hers are 3ish total. This gal had like 3 ct each I''m pretty sure. They were humongous, and I can see pictures of her ears in my head, but no name....

i recently met a girl who had 4 in each ear! they didnt look too big to me!

I just HAAAVEEE to chime in. I have larger earlobes, not huge, but largeish. I recently tried on a pair of 2ct each and they look just perfect on me. I also tried on a pair of 4ct each and they look totally ridiculous on me. I imagine I might even be able to push the boundary and go for 2.5ct each eventually but that''d be it. A few months ago, I saw this lady (not tall, an Asian lady of about 4''4"-4''.5" height and she wore what must have been 3ct on each ear and I must say they didn''t look garish on her at all! In fact, they looked absolutely fabulous!!

I''d say if you''re wearing a 4.5 EC and you can pull off the 2.5-2.9ct each (its'' about attitude too, girls!!LOL), then GO GOR IT!!

The only thing is it''d be quite hard to get a pair to match of that size, I''d imagine. But I''m no expert. Look around and be patient, is all i''m gonna say.

Congrats on the impending purchase. Be sure to come back and post pics for us! Yay!!

i say go for it. i''m currently looking for 1.3ish each (an upgrade from 1.85tw), and they do not look big on my ears!! i am tiny, with slender fingers, and big earlobes. a friend of mine just got 4.75 total weight...virtually perfect match...fvs1''s.....they are just gorgeous!!!

just be patient. they are out there for you!

I came late to the game today, so thanks for posting for me, Sna! By the way I love your screen name - ''sna'' is my favorite of Homer''s nonsense words.

amazingly, it wasn''t that creative... its my initails... =)

question: studs on short wire (not studs then actually), micropave halo (two blingy for everyday???) or bezel set ............or prong set? and why?

if you are going with 2 to 2.5 each, i would do a simple martini stud, and get micro pave jackets for a bit more bling. the best of both worlds!
