OK, this is totally OCD but I wonder if I''m doing damage to my left diamond stud when I''m on the phone. As a PTA mom at school and just in life my phone tends to ring a LOT. Cell phone, home phone etc.

When I''m on the phone and the phone rubs against my diamond stud, is there any possible way a telephone rubbing or hitting a diamond stud in the course of normal use could scratch or damage a round diamond set in a 4 prong basket setting?

What about damaging the prongs or settings?

I know this board would understand my totally anal question LOL.

If anything, you might be damaging the phone. LOL

One of my jewelers told me that they have a lot of 95% platinum rings from Tacori, etc. coming in with flattened or smashed prong tips because the plat is too soft. So I imagine you could have the same thing happen to you earring prong tips depending on how hard the metal prongs are.
