Diamond Stud Size?

I went by a b&m jeweler yesterday to see what size diamond stud would look best on me. I am petite so small works well. I looked at a .5 and a .7. Does this mean the .5 was a half ct, so both together would be 1ct total?

On whiteflash, I like the 4 prong basket. I’m considering platinum because I hear it does well for people with ear sensitivities. Have you found this to be true?

When ordering on whiteflash, is it fine to choose the preselected settings for the diamonds? Or is it possible and better to select yourself?

And pictures of studs in the .5 to .75 range would be so helpful. In searching the forums these last few days, I’m obviously not hitting jackpot with my keywords.

Thanks!

Also, I personally have way more success going google image search of “pricescope diamond studs” than searching they the site itself.

Thanks! Google search is working well and that’s a helpful link!

Is it possible to give me an estimate on ctw my studs might be? They are about 3mm each.

I know pearls and cs, but diamonds are a whole different ballgame.

They are probably about .10ct each, total weight .20ct.

I do like platinum for studs since some people have a problem with the nickel in white gold.

"When ordering on whiteflash, is it fine to choose the preselected settings for the diamonds? Or is it possible and better to select yourself?"

I am not sure what you mean by that question. Do you mean preselected diamonds? I always choose my diamonds individually because I often match pairs more closely that their sorting does! I'll be glad to help you. I've bought studs and upgraded from Whiteflash many times.

Thank you! I’ll definitely be trying the platinum setting.

When I had the settings chosen, I had the option of “setting only” or the setting with .5 ct or 1.0 ct (etc) diamond option. I’m thinking I’d need to select “setting only” and then choose from the pairs. And I’m now guessing this is what ACA is.....

No, first you select the diamonds, then the setting. Don't choose from their pairs. In fact, what I'd do online is reserve the diamonds if you plan to do it over the weekend, and then call Monday to tell them the settings you want and pay for them.

What size do you want? Color?

Oh, and ACA means A Cut Above, which is their brand name for their top cut diamonds.

By “don’t choose from their pairs,” do you mean not the general .5 or 1.0 options or do you mean from the long list of various diamonds that fit into the parameters I’ve entered and come as a “set?”

I’m looking for something in the .7-ish range, I think, but I need to do some research first.

Color wise I was thinking G, H, or I, I think.

I just use the regular diamond search and match pairs. They didn't have enough in I color in that size, so that's why the pairs I posted above are H. I think either of those would be perfect.

Thank you! This is very helpful. My goal was to put these studs on my wish list for the year so my family could click and buy, but I can see any pair I choose may not be available buy by that point.

Yes, you'd have to select them right before they were ready to buy.
